amp suggestion
check out the ED website and look at the Avionixx amps they have. They speak highly of them and I don't think that ED would be into putting their reputation on the line to sell a piece of trash amp. They have great prices on them too. I suggest something in the 400 watts RMS range for 2 10" subs but it really depends on the particular 10" sub you have. Just match the RMS the sub is rated at as close as possible to the amps RMS and you should be happy and safe.

Also, as of right now I wouldn't say ED has too good of a track record; so, I wouldn't worry much about putting their reputation on the line.
As far as Avionixx goes I suppose its a decent amp, but even so just its relation with Tsunami is more than enough to steer me clear of it. Back in the day Tsunami was basically regarded as trash, but then all the sudden ED pops up with Avionixx amps and next thing you know everyone wants one because its affiliated with ED. Personially I think people are just caught up with all the ED hype right now.
Tell me what is so good about a company that you have to wait MONTHS to get a sub, and then have the sub 'blow' due to design error/manufacturer flaw. I know someone who wiated 8 months to get a sub, and to me they were nothing more than average (however I have heard only one install with the As and it could have more than likely been the install, but to date they just dont do a whole lot for me). Basically I think people just hop on the ED bandwagon because they see something cheap. Look at the JBL 1200.1, it used to be the best thing since sliced break bc it was cheap...now these days it isnt regarded as so good.
People need to rember that price does not mean performance! And more often than not you get what you pay for in the car audio industry.
Enough of my ED rambling, I just get so aggervated with all the hype associated with it, and yes I really thinks its merely nothing more than hype.
Anyway back to the question at hand.
Basically I think of Avionixx as a Tsunami, yes I know there are different...but in my book its a Tsunami at heart. I think its an OK amp not more really. People say they are great but I think it has alot to do with ED. Also, these days people seem to mention the Tsunami more, again I think its attributed to ED and the Avionixx ties. Would I use the amp? Not very likely.Just my views,
you don't have to wait months for all thier subs! Just the e15A..it's on back order because it's so popular..This isn't a huge company..they only sell on the net...I can't say much about thier rep..only thing I've read are good things...Honestly your the first story i've come across that was negative? That doesn't mean alot I'm only one guy...Read my sig line ..sums up everything.heh..heh
The guy who waited 8 months was waiting for an e8a. Rember the waits for their amps...and the amps that were supposed to come into the country and never made it?
Their other line of subs have been on back order too. rember the wait on the Avionixx amps?
Yes I know they are small, but if they get this much business then they need to grow. If they cant fill the orders then they should take them!
Hear about the new improved 15A with the aluminum cone backing? Heres how 'improved' it is:
As someone in an email said to me "how many pics like this have seen of W7s???" Since the A is so often claimed by tthe ignorant to be as good as if not a better sub than the w7.
Honestly I dont really see why the 15A is so popular I mean if I would have seen picture like those above (along with others) of another sub, namely the w7 I would have never even thought of buying it.
As Ive said many many times before people need to rember that price does not equal performance because in car audio you usually get what you pay for.

EWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's nasty! Seperation of church and state is one thing, but seperation of voice coil an cone is a totally diferent animal. Glad you cleared up the smoke and mirrors on the ED Haz. I was merely going by what I had heard from people running them. Don't get me wrong of course because I have seen other manufacturing problems with all of the lines including JL. However, what I hold in more high regard is your opinion of their sound and if you are not impressed, I seriously doubt that I would be either. I am way too accustomed to extremely accurate sound reproduction that many things fall far by the wayside. Again, I have never even listened to the Tsunami or Avionixx but if you really think about it many companies are now making both crap equipment and upper end. Look at Rockford for one, they make the power line amps which are excellent and then make the POS RFX or whatever the hell they call it these days.

Dont mean to offend anyone here...
But its all good and well that you are giving one company hell (be it deserved or not, I dont know enough to agree or disagree here), but you're not helping the original poster here.
Make a suggestion. You've told him ONE thing NOT to buy (and those are mainly subs you are talking about for one matter, he asked for amps, granted he did post in the subwoofer folder)...the fact is one person made a suggestion, and another suggests NOT to buy that product, but does not make a suggestion on what to buy. If you are going to go against a product, make a suggestion to replace it with.
Just my $.02
I would make a suggestion but I honestly dont know enough about this subject. Im lurking and learning for now...

Your right on that John. I was replying to Hazards post in my last. ANYWAY, back to the point at hand. I suggest with what has been revealed thus far that you look at any of the following companies for a high quality amp. Sounstream, Rockford, JL Audio, Alpine, Kicker, HiFonics, Autotek or Zapco to name a few. Most offer mid level and upper end amps at a decent price a few only offer top end and some only offer mid level amp. Look at each companies amp line and you will see some that are priced cheaper for close to what seems identical power output but you can rest assured that if you pay more for an amp with seemingly less power than one boasting large numbers and lower price the one that you paid more for will outperform the lower priced amp. This holds true across all companies for the most part.
No offense taken. I typically try not to be that way. Sometimes when I reply, it is to a certain persons comment either in agreement or disagreement and never really addresses the original posters question.
Well it’s hard to recommend an amp when so little information is given! I mean what’s he looking to spend? There is anything from a JBL 1200.1 @ 250 bucks to a Zapco C2k 6.0 @ 1400 bucks.
My response was more towards the reply as to Avionixx amps. I was sating my opinion on them, which I think helps the original poster out. I think they are OK amps that will do what they were intended to do fairly well, but they are nothing special and I don't see what makes them so great.
Also, as far as the subs I posted facts/opinions there to let him decide if it’s the right sub for him and clear up some things. The post was also directed towards rouche and other parts where the ED subs did get brought up. It looks to me as I did help the original poster out from his reply. I can not tell him to get the sub or not to get it I can only tell him my views and some facts out them. Again it’s hard to say which sub to get...To me it’s not a good investment, but he may be more than pleased with it; however, I was not! Therefore I do not recommend it.
My argument is don't buy into the ED hype! Does research, a LOT of research then choose the right sub for you. If after your research you decide that ED is still the best, then by all means go for it, but only you can make that decision, then you will have very little doubts about the choice you made.
As far as amps go what price are you looking to spend? Are you familiar with the term 'headroom'? If so do you want it, is it really important to you? What kind of features do you want? What impedance are the subs at? Do you want an average amp, and OK amp that will just get you by, or a high end amp?
In my book as said earlier the Avionixx to me is just an average amp, nothing special about them at all...but then I guess we could get into the argument about what exactly makes an amp special...Just nothing really caught my eye about the amp, and I don't think they can back up all the hype. Also, I think there are many comparable amps out there as far as specs go and in the same ball park. Generally people go with ED/ED affiliates due to their price. People think since they are so cheap that they are the best value, but define value...in my book in this case its performance (sound) v. price. Well look at it this way:
-You pay more for a w7 BUT get more 'performance' out of the w7 compared to the a
-You pay less for an e15a BUT get less 'performance' out of it compared to the w7
So really how can one be pointed out as the better value? You pay more yet get more for the w7, or pay less for the A and get less. Who is to say they are not equal values?
(I just use the example of the w7 because it is a sub I am familiar with along with many others so the comparison can be better understood)
I point out the flaws in ED because people who are ED fans try to ignore these things; I think it’s good for some one thinking about the company to know these things. Because from what you hear form others you’d never hear anything like this. If JL were to produce a sub with problems like these then they would most likely be slaughtered by the public. Yes people do destroy JL subs (w7s) but it’s usually user error and on occasion there is a defect, but I be ED has a much higher defect rate especially with the A several people have had the same problems with them and it’s been attributed to manufacture flaw opposed to used error more often than not.
Also, I do hear pretty much al good things about the Os, and I haven't really heard of any problems with them. However, I did hear all good things about the As too.
But again this is my rambling about ED...
My recommendations as to subs, is the w7. Yes I use w7s. Yes I am partial to them. Why? Because I think they are the best all around subs out there and the best subs for me! Honestly, if I thought there was something better out there then I would be running it! If I wanted pure SQ I MAY used the w7 still but I would compare it side by side with a pure SQ sub (which would have a LOT less output) something like an Illusion Audio sub. If I were doing a pure SPL setup I would NOT used the w7 I would go with something else. But with the best SQ and the best output I believe the w7 is one of, if not the best sub out there. (While not losing SQ for output). But this could be the completely wrong recommendation for this user....it depends what he is looking for.
Just to throw some out there: w7, ID MAX, Eclipse TI, & Brahma.
Amps: Zapco, JL, Autotek, TDB and many others. But again with the JL for example some people love them some people hate them. So it’s hard to say, but my #1 recommendation is the Zapco anything from the Reference up to the C2k, but then again you will pay for quality.
