I like Mb Quart but that just me. I am probably wrong, but I think Fosgate makes Mb Quart.

I think I remember reading somewhere, too, that Fosgate owns MB Quart.

I have the DSD-216s and love 'em. They have more than plenty in the high range. Never heard the Fosgates.

Question ROBDUDE

what are u pushing to your MB Q DSD-216's for wattage?
The reason I am considering the fosgates is because the site that has the MB Q' for $110 has these fosgates for $250 saying retail $300, but i found another site running them special for only $140, so its all most like im getting the middle line component set, for the bottom price?
Also do you think that $150 is a decent price to pay to have them put in, I did the sub and the amp, leaving 2 channels open for the components, but dont want to do them, I was quoted 150, this includes the bracket he will build to fit the 6.5" in the 6x8

Thanks for input

For $150 he better be running new speaker wire and installing them real good. It shouldn't take him more than an hour or 2 to put them in... that's $75 an hour.

Did you put the amp and sub in yourself? Putting the components in the factory location is pretty easy.

Thumbs up yea i did the amp and sub myself

running new speaker wire and doing the crossovers and all and mounting the tweeters maybe too much for me tho I was thinking.

I couldnt find any detailed instructions on how to do it on the net, and I would probably have trouble building the brackets to hold the 6.5" midbass.

Cool

Rockford Fosgate did acquire MB Quart in 2001.

Straight from RF's web site:

MB QUART is a worldwide leader in the development, engineering and manufacturing of loudspeaker products and technologies primarily for the car audio market. MB QUART's products are positioned to sell at premium price points and thus complement ROCKFORD CORP's existing position in the moderate and better markets. Additionally, MB QUART also manufactures, markets and distributes home audio and professional loudspeaker systems under the MB QUART name. ROCKFORD CORP. acquired MB QUART in September of 2001.

If I read this correctly, they are stating that MB Quart still designs and builds their own speakers and they are saying that MB Quarts are their high-end speakers, while the RFs are their mid-range offering.

Of course, that would require comparing properly, as I'm sure RFs best speakers probably sound better than the low-end MB Quarts.

I don't think MB Quart started making their "entry-level" systems until RF acquired them.

Supposedly, they are still designed and manufactured in Germany, by MB Quart. I know the labeling on the sets I bought says "Made In Germany".

I think you can purchase the adapters to put the components in the doors, if you don't want to make them yourself.

Get the MB Quarts... You will not regret it !!!

Unhappy Sorry B-man, just ordered before I read your post

I just ordered the Fosgates but check this out
here are the MB Quart's specs (in 5.25" because I couldnt find one on the 6.5" at this time the link was down)
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/MBQDSC213

Now here are the specs on the component set that I ordered from Fosgate
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/ROCFNX2614U
WHat do you think, they are very similar, but the Fosgate fanatic X seems like it may have more quality crossovers, and heres the kicker I didnt pay $249 for them, I got them from another website for $139, It looked like an offer that would be hard to pass up.
What you think

I've got a Cadence Q3000, 100 watts x 2, feeding them. I believe that $150 is too much to pay for a simple job like that. You can pick up a set of speaker adapters for < $20, some speaker wire for $8, and the rest is labor.

I'm sure you'll enjoy, but I would have bought these instead...

Talking thanks B man

They should sound sick, but I am hesitating about payin $150 for the labor, I already have the speaker wire left over from when I did my amp and sub. But I dont kno how to get to the factory speaker locations, or how I would mount the tweeters at head level.
If anyone can link me to some step by step instructions or advice I may try the job myself next week when the components come in. But I dont want to seriously F anything up!

Where in MASS are you ?

I will be up in Leominster all next week... Could be interesting...

We could install those bad rabbits in a few hours, if you wanted to and you think you can trust me disassembling your baby...

Let me know... Either way I could get you some instructions. I just need some time to write them up, you know ??
