Any ideas where I could put a small sub or something with just a little punch ? I have a regular cab, it has a cargo box behind the seat and i dont want to take it out, so it cant go there. Any body got any suggestions ? Thanks

What are the dimensions of the biggest box you could fit behind your seat?

I was thinking the 8A from Elemental Designs...I bet you saw that coming.

The 8A has the same XMAX as the JL Audio 12W6v2, and its only an 8" sub. It only requires .2 - .3 cuft of airspace. You could mount the amp under the seat & you would be good to go.

I put a Clarion Camo Sub in my Supercrew but would fit in your truck as well. Its an 8" sub with built in 100 watt amp. Really sounds good. I bought mine on Ebay. Also crutchfield has a cable that will tie into a factory headunit.

The camo-box is the next best thing if you can't fit anything behind the seat & you have an automatic tranny.

Plus, you can always replace the Clarion sub with a better one if you wanted to. *cough* 8A *cough*

thanks guys !

savera i like that sub, i think ill look into that. did it come matched like that or did you have to do some painting ? it looks in the picture to match dead on is this true ? what is the specific color.(ok goahead everybody say grey)

has it got a solid back on it or is it open at the bottom ? does it totally block the vents ? how did you mount it ? thanks and sorry for all the questions.

Actually the grey matched great. No painting required. I have read that the tan colored camo sub is off some and many have painted. However, my grey matches almost perfect.

It comes with mounting brackets to screw down into the floor of the truck but I didn't want to do that. I followed the following thread and installed without having to mount.

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...threadid=89652

These are great instructions. If you have a 2000 or later model you will have to grind down the bottom of the sub a bit but not a big deal. I used a Dremel tool. It was simple to install and sounds great! Much better than expected.

The bottom of the sub is open underneath, the 8" sub fires down into the carpet. Foam padding around the sub and small feet on the front keep the sub in place. The amp is built into the box.

Plus you get a handy tray for junk

You can purchase a T-harness from Crutchfield that will allow you to tie into your factory head unit. The sub accepts RCA inputs that I used with my Alpine headunit. I had to put a ground loop isolator between the sub and headunit to minimize engine noise. Any stereo shop should have one (~12 bucks)

Hope this helps, if you have any other questions, let me know.

Crutchfield has discontinued the camo sub. I found mine on Ebay. Crutchfield does have the T harness cables for a factory head unit however.
