Is this safe?
I was looking into putting 2 10's behind the seat in my screw but don't have the money to do it right now. I have found a box that goes under the rear seat that will fit 2 10's but the seat has to be lifted with spacers. Is this safe? I have a concern about the bolts shearing in an accident. Also will the downfire design sound very good? I have a RF 400S to run the 10s.
From what I understand if you get the lift kit and install it properly it should be pretty safe, although Im not positive but Im looking at doing it in my ext. cab. Perhpas email LMI (i think it is) and ask them if its DOT approved.
Well, I have now found a box that will fit 2 12s under the back seat!
Still downfire design and it looks like the subs share the same air space. Is that efficient? I am old school, 80s, when it comes to stereo and I always built a box for each sub to have it's own air space. Should I consider this? The box is only 99 bucks and it's actually good quality. I just don't want to go through lifting the seat and everything for it to sound like crap. Any opinions are appreciated.

2 12's???? Really, where is this box? I want to check it out! Here is a site that sells boxes for trucks, http://www.subbox.net/store/index.html
As far as sound, as long as the sub has the correct air space, is designed for a sealed box(im assuming its a sealed type enclosure) and has enough excursion room you should be fine. Down firing boxes are "supposed to hit" pretty hard. I had 2 alpine type r subs in a downfiring box in my old car and it sounded real good

The box for 12s is on Ebay right now. It's 150 bucks, they have one for 10s also. Look for sub enclosures for a screw. I have decided not to do it because I don't like having to lift the seat with spacers.

Q logic makes a box that has 2 8" that fits under the seat without any modes. It looks good even has a color matching for you interior. But it cost bank. and I don't know if the sound is any good.

Or you can go with my philosophy....Im not in the back, screw the passengers they didn't pay all this money for my ride!
To this day I will not allow anyone to sit in the back of my car unless there are wearing a seatbelt.... It's about MY safety.
Just sharing an experience....before this I never thought twice about back-seat seat belts or any other safety equipment for that matter.

Thanks for the replies. I have decided to stick with my lil' bazzoka until I can come up with the money for the install behind the seats. It's not the best but with the aftermarket speakers in the door it does crank nicely, sounds like I have everything amped.

From point of impact to stop only took 7 ft for the car i was in (man that was a lot of force). I was not wearing my seat belt (hey I was in the back right?), the person in the front seat was. I flew into her seat breaking her seat belt and her seat and pushed her head through the front window. The seat pinned her body to the dash. It wasn't a pretty site and knowing that I did this to her was hard to deal with for a long time.

I caught a hint of sarcasm but you never know the true tone on the boards. Regardless I was simply sharing some info that before I would have never thought of, and I know most other people don't either. His question was about safety after all....

I owe you an apology. I DID NOT edit the above and change your name post nor would I ever do such a thing. I have contacted both Doug and Steve about this and have changed my password and email for the account. (in the process I was locked out of the account which is why I made this new one to apologize to you.)
I swear I did not or would never change a username as an attempt to slander anyone.
Sorry I will edit that post whenever I regain access to my old account.
