Got a new idea on how to build a box. I was looking thru a magazine in target yesterday and i saw alot of subs flipped over with the driver and magnet sticking out. What if you made a box similar to a downfire box , then cut holes in the top and had the subs done like that. I think it would look really cool. Tell me how hard it is gonna be to do that and if those elemental subs will work in the situation.

The proper term for mounting the subs like that is "inverted" and it will work just fine in an extended cab if you do not have a rear seat. It will not work with the seat. It is not recommended for a reg cab either because it would take up WAY too much space.

Tell me where my thinking is wrong. It says one the website i need 4 cubic feet of air space for the 10s from elemental design. Really the box would not have to be that high would it. Just make the longer and wider. I really think i could pull of inverted subs in a regular cab pickup.

Cool

I don't think anyone was saying you are wrong, but take a look at your picture...

If the total spaeker package is 1 foot, 4 inches tall, how are you gonna' fit that in your rig??

I believe that 2trucks was telling you it would not fit in your rig as it is now...

You must be looking at the ported enclosure box specs...because the 10's only need .5 cu ft (each) after displacement. I wouldn't build the box any bigger than 1 cu ft after displacement.

You must be really short to be able to sacrifice that much leg room.

I don't actually know the size of the subs yet. That is what i was planning to make the box. 1 ft heigh x 1 ft wide x 2 ft long. Sorry bout the diagram I did it in a hurry. Actually i could probably drop the height of the box itself a little bit and make it wider or longer. Would that work. Just so it is 4 cubic meters.

If you want to make the box that big you need to port it.

look at this box ...

Sub Box ...
For those looking for a sub box that will fit and hold two 10's in a reg cab Lightning this looks like it might work - Plus the air is more than enough - may have to notch the top where the arm rest will go down otherwise it looks pretty close ... When you open the link look at model # T-102 ...

please chime in ... price is very reasonable ...

So all i really need is 1 cubic foot of displacement to get the subs sounding good. That will be easy to do. 2trucks1wife i think you got misunderstanding about the diagram. I have atleast a foot behind the seats of extra space. I am gonna build the box to fit that space and face the subs straight up in the air. I think it might work.

I couldn't resist. I got two kenwood 12's today. The warrany on them is great and the price wasn't bad either. Two years replacement no questions asked. I can't wait till this weekend, I'll be able to get down to the shop and build my box.

Need more airspace than that 98Screamer. At least 1 cubic foot. The recommendations are 14-15/16 x 19-7/8 x 13-3/8. (W*H*D)
The smallest part of my box is gonna be my depth. That is one of the problems that is goona be really hard to get around. I am gonna lose seat capabilities if my depth is much more that 12 inches. Probably gonna have to make a wedge design box, because a square box isn't looking to good. What is the least amount of space you can have before the sub starts bagging the back of the box. Is there a figure made to tell you that. Inverting maybe the only way i can pull this off.
