I don't find glc "beating the guys rowing the life boats". He's just simply voicing his opinion.

haha. i know a lot of people are gonna have to resize. i personally think 500x100 is a little small. with all the mods and money people have put into their rides, they should be able to show it off. its gonna be hard to do now with a sig where you can barely make out the shape and color of it.

It's the required SHAPE that I think is ridiculous. The only picture of a truck that makes sense at 500x100 is a longbed Screw towing a 30 foot trailer.

I fully agree that SOMETHING has to be done - all these 800x600 + pics are making an ungodly mess of the place. They are overshadowing the almighty ad banners!

There's also a VERY easy option to enable in the control panel - only allow display of a particular member's sig ONCE per PAGE - and the default number of posts per page can be very easily increased from the present 14 or 15 to a much higher number.

If you don't like my complaining, you may ask me to leave. There are probably quite a few members here who would love to see me do just that anyway. I simply have a tendency to speak out when I see BS.

You dont have to leave, but removing the chip from your shoulder would be nice

As a VB admin you should know the posts per page is a USER choice

As a VB admin you should know that Ad banners pay the rent

The sig image size is a common choice on forums - even if it weren't its the one that was chosen here.

This will take some adjustment. Many people will have to either learn how to resize pictures or get some help. We will eventually start removing monster images from sigs. I imagine starting with the worst offenders.

On a personal note - the sig thing has gotten way past ridiculous - I don't care what flavor of Pine Tree air freshener is hanging from your mirror this week.

I personally could care less what the limit is - in fact the forum I admin has totally disallowed images in sigs. I'm simply trying to make it easier for the membership in general to use a picture that has somewhat normal aspect proportions, and a 400x150 would not be significantly larger from a byte standpoint. The average member here is not capable of manipulating images - they have a hard enough time figuring out how to simply POST them.

RP, I'm not trying to get on your case, being that I admin a forum, I understand exactly where you are as a moderator. However, I want to go on record as saying that since Steve sold out, I have been VERY unimpressed by the new owners. They can't even be bothered with fixing major issues such as the ones that plague the galleries, making them almost useless.

Enough said, continuation via PM is welcome.
Just as a simple reply, I understand your frustrations but, *you* need to understand that you're not the only one standing in a boat that is taking on water. As was mentioned, the guys who are rowing the life boats at the moment need just a little bit of respect here and need support from folks like you who, indeed, understand the aspects and in and outs of forum management.

I don't take anything that you've said personally but, what you DO NOT know is that none of the mods have access to the admin panel. That's critically important to your argument. Further, those who are in the aforementioned life boats are trying to procure bilge pumps but, we can only do so much. The guys who have the bilge pumps and access to the places to plug them in are - difficult - to access because of the complexities of a larger company.

That said, back up just a tad, get the entire picture from this side of the table and then be critical with your opinion. This *is* a move in the direction of positive that we've managed to get this implemented - albeit true that it would've been dramatically easier if we had tried to implement this during the Steve days.

We were *all* spoiled when Steve ran this place as he sat on top of a server waiting for something to break so that he could update it thrice to ensure that it wouldn't happen again. Those days are gone. It's time for *all* of us to get used to it just a little bit...

The two moderators that have replied in this forum (me included) are the face of f150online.com. We are here to field the opinions, problems, and such and forward them up the ladder. The problem is that the ladder is being built and lots of the steps are wobbly at the moment. We're trying to get someone to work on that - because we're not certified ladder builders.

Bare with us here. Remember, I'm holding an oar in one hand and am doing my damn best job with what I have available.... so is Silver_2000.

My sigs are a little larger than 500x100. I have NO issues with them being cut down. A few months ago, I was going to create a new screen name being the "F150sigpolice" and give people virtual tickets. This sounded fun until I found out that I could get banned. Anywho, I welcome the new policy with open arms.

No, I knew that. None of my mods (except one) have access to the admin CP either, only the mod CP, and I know exactly what the limitations are. I don't own my forum either - but it's owned by an individual who I have immediate access to and he generally lets me run the show how I see fit. I would not expect you or any other mod to be able to implement any kind of policy anyway, I know you have to go to the admin structure to get anything done. My mods have immediate access to me.

The way we get things done is we have an admin forum, access granted to all mods, me (admin) and owner (super-admin). I have 9 mods on my staff, one who has admin CP access to handle stuff when I'm not available.

I've continued the previous discussion with Silver via PM. I know you guys can only do so much.

On your staff? What kind of money does this position pay?
