Alright, I have a question Peter--errr....I mean Steve. I have two reputation posts, but I now have 33 points. After my first reputation post, my points were at 11 and now after another it is at 33. How are the points awarded? Also, what makes a post somewhat positive versus very positve? In the mean time I'll check out the vBulletin 3.5 website to try and figure this out.

I think rep from mods and myself are worth more points. It may be that the longer someone has been here or the more posts they have, their rep may be worth more...I'm not really sure.

thanks, I couldn't find much on their site except:

An Introduction to User Reputation
User Reputation in its simplest form is a ranking of your user's benefit to your forum. Its basis comes from the opinions of all of your forum users that choose take part in it.

Users gain and lose reputation based on how their posts are scored by other forum participants. Users with the ability to affect reputation, will either give or take aways points by approving or disapproving with a post's content.

User reputation can be a derisive element of your forum so great care should be taken before a decision is made to enable it.

All of the factors that affect a user's reputation score are found in the User Reputation section of the vBulletin Options. Please view that section of the manual for more information on controlling how users are able to affect another user's reputation.

I've got a question....how come now, when I leave the site and then come back, wether I leave to check my email real quick or i'm gone for hours, I now get signed off and must sign back on everytime I come back? Before I could sign on and come and go as I pleased and then sign off when I was finished.

It probably has to do with your cookie settings more than anything. However, if I hit "refresh" on the browser, it always kicks me out and makes me sign back in. Hope that helps!

You know... come to think of it, I haven't had any problems since I started using firefox. Well atleast not the logging in/out issue. I've tried to do the refresh thing a couple off times and nothing has changed. I still don't have the spell check button though. Maybe it is a give and take thing...

It does not look like Spell-check will work in Firefox. The spell-checker in IE is iespell, which is made for Internet Explorer. http://www.iespell.com/

There are ways to install a spell-checker for Firefox, too. http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/

I have a strange thought. I've seen a lot of unnecessary posts by new members. I.e. "Hi all, I'm new here and I thought I should start a thread telling you all". Maybe this reputation business would keep anyone below a certain level from starting threads. They could read and post on other's threads, but they wouldn't be able start new ones. It would keep a lot of trolls under their bridges and stop those spammers as well. What does everyone think? Steve?

Thanks for giving the PMs a try...

Steve, Thanks for giving the PMs a chance. I understand and respect your position on them even though I don't necessarily agree with it. I think the PMs provide a valuable added channel of communication in addition to the public postings and email. I hope the PMs get to stay and that they aren't abused. Thanks again for all your hard work on the site. I tell everyone it's the best F150 site on the planet.
