Exclamation SCT Tuner messed up ECM

So i got an SF3 for my 01 lightning. Truck ran great before i plugged it in. I plugged in the tuner to mess with some stuff unplugged it and the theft light was on and the truck would not respond to anything on the tuner. Could no read any DTC's nothing. So had my truck towed to my tuner he tried to program the ECM and could not do it. He said the tuner erased the ECM and i have to get another ECM. On with the questions first off how does this happen? and second i found some ECM's on rockauto and wondered if they are the same as the stock ECM in all lightning and what the difference in price is heres the link.

"I plugged in the tuner to mess with some stuff" - elaborate, in detail.

If you did not follow all the screen prompts faithfully (key on/off sequences, not disconnecting anything before completion of flash, etc, etc) you could have corrupted the flash resulting in a no-start. Similarly if the ODBII port fuse decided to blow at this time - same result.

However, the inability of the dealer to reflash does not sound right - the programmer can only access the the calibration area, not the supervisory code.

Isn't a flashing theft light + no-start indicative of a PATS issue?

Find another dealer, perhaps.

Did you have full charge on the battery - no extraneous loads, PCM & handheld above freezing?

Additionally - did you contact SCT tech support yet???? Do that ASAP - if the unit is deemed faulty, there may be compensation.
Also, they may be able to help you recover - X3's / SF3's have recovery modes, or they perhaps can send you a calibration to get it going. New units have warranty coverage.

I doubt the PCM is history, myself.

^^^^what he said!^^^

We need to know more details on WHAT YOU WERE MESSING WITH....

Also check your fuses in case you popped one....

Parts of your issue sounds like a PATS problem....

the only thing i messed with was the Gas Octang and trans shifting. My tuner tried to put a PAts tune on the ECM and it wont hold nothing. He said Flash memory in the ECM was messed up. My tuner at JPC told me they tried everything he could to get it working and he could not he told me to call SCT. Im an about to do that right now ill let you guys know what happens asap

Never heard of this happening prior to your post. Was your truck ever tuned proir? If so was it set back to stock? Are you the original owner? Where did you get the SCT tuner, from the tuner that couldn't overwrite your present issue?

Get it towed to a Ford dealer (NOT a tuning shop) and get the PCM reflashed.

it is a lightning ecm. So SCT finally got back to me and said that i did not have a return to stock tune on my tuner. They tried to make one and where unable to. They told me to take it to a ford dealer and have the ecm reflashed. I just talked to my tuner and he said they tried everything and the ecm will not read anything. He basically said that would be a waste of time when he cannot do it. He said that the ecm is done and i should start looking for another one. Also he said this could of happened when i plugged in the tuner i could of lost power in the middle of a tune messing up the ecm..
