Exclamation Engine won't start

i have an 01 lightning motor in my truck with the L pcm and everything....i got a custom tune from my tuner to turn the pats off...truck started and ran good...went to try to turn it on wont crank...the starter solenoid goes off..the starter is brand new and all the wires are in the right spot..im thinking it has something to do with the pats cause when i turn the key the thief light blinks...and i have also tried reloaded the tune into the truck...any thoughts?

If you say the starter solenoid goes off, do you mean it is getting energized?

Sounds like a PCM kill to me. PATS/PCM kill, starter interrupt.

Just so we don't spin our wheels; A truck that will not turn over means that the starter fails to spin the crankshaft fast enough for it to start. Or it fails to turn at all and sometimes it just clicks.

A truck what will not start is one that the starter spins the crankshaft but the engine will not fire and run on its own.

What is yours doing?

the tune didnt take, your gonna need to unlock and force the flash onto the PCM. happened to me with sniper. when the tune is loaded on the file on the PCM is erased then the new file is written on. if there is any voltage drop or change while the tune is being loaded on the tune will not be written and the PCM will be blank.

Fritz, - Address Stormsearch and JMC's posts. Just so we know what the hell she's doing, - exactly. I think it's PATS interference, but it doesn't have to be. If your getting power to the Solenoid; - which Solenoid are you referring to ? The relay on the firewall or the one that piggybacks the starter?

Check the connections from the battery to the starter and the ground. They corrode and wick up the wire.

the tuner called me and said that he has never herd of the pats resetting itself...he said the theft light blinking is normal when u first try and turn it on...he said must be something to do with the engine components....i am pretty sure the starter connections are all fine and tight.

With the ignition in the run position transmission in park short the two large terminals on the relay switch that is on the firewall together. The starter should crank the engine. Does it?
