97-03 switch

anyone switch over from k&n cai and still have the heat sheild lets me know i need one. Or if your thinkin about going to it i'd trade my whole stock set up with k&n drop in filter for just the heat sheild and hardware!

so has anyone done this mod on a 2003 5.4L expedition? its the 2-valve V8 engine, but I'm just a little worried because coming right out of the snorkel piece at a 90 degree angle is some plastic box looking thing, that isn't shown in any of the pictures. anyone know what that is? is is just a muffler or something? thanks for the help

take a look at the new write up, it's not an issue

int eh new write up an expedition was used and it had that piece you are talking about

Hey thanks, I did it, haven't driven it yet though. Used a hacksaw to whittle the pipe down to size-that took forever, but it worked.

yup that was it, it is shaped a little different on an '03 though, but i'm sure it serves the same purpose.

so i drove it today, and i think i can tell its a bit more powerful. i'm pretty sure its not just me wishing it was more powerful, because i was definitely edging over the speed limit a lot easier than usual...

overall, an excellent mod, and i thank everyone for their help!
