This was a 15 minute job following the instructions. I used a 3" thin wall connector instead of the thick wall pipe, and it was a lot easier to cut down using a bench grinder. It was the right length also.

Gotts - I posted this question on the other thread too, but I'll ask you too. I did this mod to my 02 FX4 supercrew. No sweat. Thanks a ton. I don't have a tuner but terajame advised that I need to get one. Do I just contact Troyer and tell them I have the Gotts intake and they know what to do? Thanks again.

you are not required a tune since you have the 2 valve 5.4 but with a tuner you'll see some more power

the main reason for the tune is ignition timing and to help shift points, shift timing, firmness etc also with a custom tune you can run 91-93 octane and make even more power than 87 octane

Thanks for the response. I guess if I had read better, I would have figured that out! Sorry about that. Probably will still ask for a tuner as a birthday present. Sounds good to me. And again, Troyer will do everything just by me telling him I have the Gotts intake?

Took me about 1.5 hours, dremeling, cutting pipe to length to get it to fit. My pvc pipe wasn't too pretty, but it's solid in the fender with a little hammer persuasion. Truck seems to like it.

Well i finally caught a break between work and the honey-do's and did the mod yesterday. First off many thanks to Gotts2BMe and Tarajerame for all of the advice by e-mail you guys rock. I had some issues but were soon resolved by a trip to the pick and pull. Since I have a 97 the inlet on the snorkle was only 2 3/4" so I retrieved an airbox complete with maf and silencer elbow complete off of a 2000 for 80 bucks actually they gave me the elbow for 10 and the airbox was 70. I removed the rubber coupling with the intake temp sensor and dug out the silencer man what a pita that was. But to think about what I spent I have spare parts and the maf ought to be worth that if I or someone I know ever needs one. Took it for a test drive on the North Dallas Autobahn and wow I can't wait to hook up the boat to it. I went back with the paper filter since it only has 1000 miles on it. Figure to run a tank full of gas and see what mileage i get before putting the drop in K&N in and running another tank and compair the difference. But I'm on the list.

Did this over last weekend, and it came out great. I used ABS and sanded it down as need and sanded the inner wall aswell to create about 3-3/8" inlet size. Dropped in a K&N filter aswell during the mod. I only got it in about 1" though its nice and solid. I can def feel the throttle response gain and faster acceleration. Question though, I notice it decelerates alot faster and will actually kick down an extra 200 rpm or so at 50-55mph(from 1500rpm to 12-1300ish rpm), is this normal? There is also no increase in actual intake noise, I was hoping for that nice cold air intake WH-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-P during WOT, but nothing =(. Guess I need to remove the silence.
Here's to a great mod though!

My truck does the same thing every time i reset the computer, it may do it a few times until it relearns itself.
