Lalalalala.... Just waiting for saleen to ship it.

I have on the way:
1)SAleen grille
2)flat black grille surround (found a grille with this surround on ebay and talked the guy into selling it to me for 50$, shipped )

Getting soon:
1)Tomorrow I am going to paint my chrome badges flat-black. EEEeeek. Hope I dont ruin them... =)
- Or should I just take them off? Blow dryer and some rubbing alchohol?
2)Getting my bumpers painted very very soon.
3)going to order front and rear bilstein 5100 series shocks.

Money, Money, Money...

Doesn't the Saleen grille require the Saleen fascia?

Hey Fordboy.....

Sounds like your pretty stoked about your mods :-) That's cool. They should look really nice.

One thing though... about changing the color of your "chrome" bumpers. You might be about to hit a wall, that you were not expecting ! I've just went all the way around the block on that subject, concerning the color changing of my own bumpers. I originally wanted mine PTM in Stone green... But good luck ! Turns out, none of the paint shops will even consider painting over chrome.... So then, I start trying to find a place to remove the chrome... but good luck in Cali ! I finally found one place that said they could have the chrome removed, and put factory matching paint on them, for.... drumroll please.... $1300 ! Are you freaking kidding me ? ....and one more place that said they could order me "brand new" primered bumpers, and paint them my color, for $1500 ! Those places have to got to be freaking crazy !

So, I found a place that will bead blast my chrome bumpers, and powder coat them in Satin Black (which I think will work "as good" in my situation, as would PTM... maybe a little better) for $400. If this doesn't work, I'm going to grind the chrome off, with a hand grinder, and have them black Linexed.

Point of all of this is, chrome is a bitch to make anything stick to !

Peace,
Fish

Saleen grill should look well. They dont look too good on many truck IMO but yours will pull it off well.

And I vote PTM badges and bumpers the body color.

Wow. Great job with the Photoshop! Is there any way you can throw a saleen grille and flat-black surround inf that picture to get an "after" pic? That would be amazing....

It Looks damn good, I cant wait! Hopefully I can find someone that will do it for under 400$. Kinda worried now... :o

Oh well. If I have to, I will take them off and sand them down to the metal with an electric sander of something. Ill get it done one way or another. Looks too good to give up! haha

So, what do Ya'll think I should do with the lower grille. The black billet and saleen isnt going to do I dont think... Maybe I will just take out the billet and leave it open? (how it is stock). Any opinions? I saw a lower grille insert a while ago on a website, just a plastic honeycomb grille that fills in the middle gap of the lower bumper, but I cant find it now...

haha, sorry guys. This has turned into a "my mods" thread...

Oh well...

So, I was thinking, and... of course the ford badge would stick out in the back after all of the badges are painted flat black...

My thoughts...?
I just bought a can of vht Nite Shades and am going to do a very thin coat over the f150 badge, just enough to give it a "snoke" tint. You will still be able to read "ford".

My tails are smoked, and so is my 3rd light. I want that BLACKOUT looks though, so I am going to make them pretty much solid black with the rest of that can. Do I need to pick up some clearcoat? or does the VHT come out just fine by itself?

Im calling around about the bumper thing tomorrow, I will let ya'll know!

Thanks. Sure thing heres what I just got done with. The grill looks a little too drooped down in the center, or curved, but I couldn't get it any better, swipe the grill shot from another truck from a very different angle so I made the best of it.

I would definitely say yes to removing the billet grill down there now, or maybe try removing every other bar to help it match. Heres a PS of what your truck could look like with the Saleen grill, and a custom fabricated lower bumper Saleen style grill.

I think that could look pretty good with the Ford gate logo. Good idea.

As for darkening the taillights more, make sure you have enough visible light coming through. Upgrade your lighting if neccessary.

I smoked my old Silverado taillamps in VHT June 2007, and my being in the north, they went through 1 winter. They held up decent, but I wanted a glossier look. I would not trust any store can clearcoat. When I smoke my F150's taillamps I am going to have a paint shop clear them so they have a nice gloss finish to flow with the paint.

This is all the shine and gloss that came out of the pure VHT.

It can be, it can also be very frustrating when something goes wrong or you cant do something right. Many times i've wanted to punch my lap top.....

A CHevy?!?!?!
haha, jk.

Thanks man. I will definitely take some pics and stuff and let you know how the badge goes. As for the gloss, I wouldnt mind a matt-finish. Pretty much the rest of my truck is a matt-black. Grille(saleen on its way), surround, badges are going to be. All of the black plastic, etc... Only the rims are gloss-black.

Just want to thank everyone again for all the replies and help!

PS: that bottom grille is badass... If only I was still in a shop class. It would take about 11' of 1" aluminum strip (about 1/4" thick), a tig welder, drill, cutting wheel, flat black paint + primer and about 3 hours. so easy...

I think I am just going to go with a black mesh lower grille. For now though, I will just leave it open like it was stock...

So no one has answered my question yet...

Doesn't the Saleen grille require the Saleen fascia??? I just don't want you to get your grille and then find out you have to pay triple what you paid for the grille just to be able to put it on... but if your pocket is deep, more power to ya!

UPDARE:
1) saleen grille will hopefully ship this week, they are still doing an inventory thing.

2) Purchased some Bilstien 5100 6" Struts for the front

3) VHT Nightshade should be here soon and I can get started on that oval..... EEEeekk. Say a prayer for me!

3) Went down to the paint shop today and got re-diected to "West Coast Powdercoating". It turns out, they had a powdercoat laying around that almost matches my paint exactly. Very dark blue, and it is even a metallic. Just gotta rip the bumpers off and drive around without them for about 1 week. It will cost me $280. HURRAY!!!!!!!!!

4) I painted my badges. I figured if I didnt like them, I could just take them off. I took off my 4X4 stickers in the rear also.

Give your opinions...
