Sorry, I was edditing it. It is in my previouse post at the end of page 2. $280 for a powdercoat that is damn close, if not an exact match to my paint.

...ANything will be better than that chrome....

I went to "The paint saint" and I could have probably talked him into 300-350. THey werent going to blast the paint off, just try to scuff it up as much as possible. However, he wanted me to check with the powdercoating place first and im glad he did!!!

If you have a "paint saint" near you, they are very honest people and do a great job.

Just some automotive spray paint and primer from Kraigen. Skuffed it up a little with sand paper...

Tomorrow, I am going to tape over them, and with a razor, cut out the letters and use some chrome spray paint. It will basically reverse the original emblem. it will have chrome letters and the rest will be matt-black.

Exactly.

nice truck...

But yeah, after thinking at work today, I just decided that I am going to take them off.... Im too lazsy to do the chrome letter thing. lol.

I gotta tear off my bumpers tomorrow... Im going to miss them.
I went ahead and took the plastic step pad off the rear bumper already. I tried doing it the right way but it is damn near impossible, so.... I just tore the whole thing off... haha. Definitely cant use that again... I have a new one coming. Got it off of ebay for $120. :o

One thing though... about changing the color of your "chrome" bumpers. You might be about to hit a wall, that you were not expecting ! I've just went all the way around the block on that subject, concerning the color changing of my own bumpers. I originally wanted mine PTM in Stone green... But good luck ! Turns out, none of the paint shops will even consider painting over chrome.... So then, I start trying to find a place to remove the chrome... but good luck in Cali ! I finally found one place that said they could have the chrome removed, and put factory matching paint on them, for.... drumroll please.... $1300 ! Are you freaking kidding me ? ....and one more place that said they could order me "brand new" primered bumpers, and paint them my color, for $1500 ! Those places have to got to be freaking crazy !

So, I found a place that will bead blast my chrome bumpers, and powder coat them in Satin Black (which I think will work "as good" in my situation, as would PTM... maybe a little better) for $400. If this doesn't work, I'm going to grind the chrome off, with a hand grinder, and have them black Linexed.

Point of all of this is, chrome is a bitch to make anything stick to !

Peace,
Fish
You can powdercoat over chrome, no problem. As long as it is in good shape. Tell them to just powder over the chrome and see what the prce is. I got paint-matching powdercoat for $280 (both bumpers). 400 is pretty high...

Just get chrome inlays for your badges... 100x easier, and cheap too!

just taped it off! Make sure you use paper and mask off like, a good 3 square feet around it to prevent overspray onto your truck. Sand dfown the badges pretty well, primer, and paint. Ta da, let dry for a bit and then rip the tape off and you are done.

I just dropped off my bumpers today, they will be done at the end of the week!

Heres some pics:

Its a WOLO truck horn. Its just a cheaper, smaller version of a train horn. Direct drive little compressor, no tank. Definitely louder than stock, and more "train-e" though.

I cant remember what Grit.. But it wasnt too aggressive... Prolly like, 3 steps up from the finest grit. You want to get some decent scratched on it.

Nope, smooth. THe primer fills in the little scratches.

I think im done with the painting stuff...

What do Ya'll think? Better? Or worse? Or could be improved?
