I bought my '09 used from a local dealer back in December and my Sirus subscription just expired also. I haven't been contacted by anyone. I was going to wait until June and see what it will cost to renew but there's now way I'm going to pay $150/yr to listen to a radio. As long as my navigation system still works I'm happy.

BTW: Has anyone found out anything about upgrading the mapping?

The 6-month trial of Sirius ended yesterday morning, and I just started a year of Sirius Everything for $50.97 plus fees. I asked for the $77 deal and they offered me a better deal. I chose to pay $2 for an invoice instead of giving them a credit card # because I don't like how some companies automatically renew the subscription.

That sounds more like what it's supposed to be. I remember reading somewhere, when I was looking into what this Sirius was all about that it was a $60/year subscription after the trial ran out. Now the follow up is "Is the Sirius Travel Link another separate subscription ON TOP of the radio subscription"? What about the map upgrade, anyone tried to get theirs updated?

Ya, Travelink is another $6.95 a month, unless they do deals on that also. My subsciption isn't up yet, and so far all they've offered is the life of the vehicle subscription, I think they said $360 keeps it on as long as I own the vehicle, but Travelink was extra. They have to do better than that for a renewel, doubt I'll keep the truck more than 5-7 years.

Does the trial period for the Travel Link different than the Sirius Radio? My Sirius trial period apparently ended a few weeks ago but my Travel Link is still working. When should I expect it to quit on me?

Just recieved a payment notice from Sirius for $210.68 for a years subscription. They are telling me that the deal in May was only for a 6-month subscription. Unfortunately, I can't find my copy of the May invoice to prove that it was a 1-year subscription. I told them to cancel my account. It is about time I learned how to use my SYNC and IPOD...

Well It's been one year since I started this thread and I just recieved my renewal notice in the mail.

Back in Jan 2010 I stated that the rep I spoke with set it up to autorenew at $77 per raido MINUS the Music Royalty Fee in 2011.

According to my renewal statement, it is indeed going to renew at $77 per radio, however the MRF has been added.

I called XM and read her verbatim what I had wrote in my original two posts here in this forum and she went ahead and honored what the rep told me last year. She didn't actually waive the fee but credited my acct. the same exact amount. From this point forward though it sounds like I will not be getting the MRF waived. My Acct has been duly noted that it has been waived twice and they are at this point not allowed to do it at all.

The good news I guess moving forward is that the MRF has actually went down in price from 11.78 to $8 something.

If I can get it renewed again in 2012 @ $77 per radio + $16 RMF- I think that is still a decent bargin.

PS- for the record..I have an HTC EVO 4G phone and an app called Tune in radio. The head unit in my truck and XM doc station at home allows me to plug my phone in. With that app I can tap in to just about whatever genre of music or talk radio I want for no added monthly fee. Granted its not quite as easy to switch and you are limited to a good signal but it is another option. As technology advances and cell tower coverage expands I can see the need for Sat raido decreasing.

Sirius XM keeps calling me about my billing notice, but as of yesterday afternoon, they haven't shut it off yet. They offered me the $77 deal, and I told them to call me in May when my subscription runs out, but they insist that it ran out in November. How many times am I going to have to tell them to cancel???

How do they stay in business?

Just a little more 'follow up' :
My Sirius subscription ran out in April and they have been calling and sending me notices for a renewal cost of $155.40 and then $129.50 (after all the add on junk fees it'd be around $149). Just the other day I received another renewal request at a cost of $77 plus they say they will waive the reactivation fee (big deal). They say I can call in or go to their website address : www.sirius.com/savebig to take advantage of their 'special' offer.

Now for the strange thing; yesterday I just happened to scan into one of the Sirius channels and low and behold my Sirius is working on most of the channels. Everytime I switch to a different channel I get a pop-up message that my subscription has expired but the station still works. I just press the 'cancel/close' option and the pop-up message goes away. The other thing is that all of my preset buttons and direct select number pad is inactivated. Now, my Travel Link does NOT work at all so I can't pull up the weather map , gas prices, movies etc. Of course being in Florida their stupid ski reports is a real heart breaker ha ha ha. Now I'm debating whether or not I really want to resubscribe. The whole feature is really just a novelty and not worth the money. Why can't they add something useful like a calculator or sunrise/sunset or moon phase/tide tables (for hunting and fishing) etc and get rid of that stupid ski report.

What really ticks me off is the fact that when I purchased my '09 a year ago it was based on the fact that EVERYTHING was able to be upgraded when new features were available. Wouldn't you know it, the very next year they come out with the travel instructions and I'm NOT able to have my '09 system upgraded to accommodate it. They say it's a hardware change and I have to go buy a 2010. or newer, in order to have the new features!

Oh yeah ! How does everyone like the change in station numbers? That has really pissed me off with Sirius BIG TIME ! ! !

Picture this scenero if you will .... I pull up to my local Lowe's and my kids want to stay in the truck while quickly run inside for something. (This was just before my subscription expired ) They want to listen to the 'family' comedy station that I had preprogrammed in (I think 132) and I say sure and leave. When I come back out I find that Sirius has changed that station number to a ,very much explicit, ADULT channel. Bottom line, my kids got a real thorough education on **** and oral sex, masturbation and God only knows what else was discussed while I was in the store. I had some embarrasing questions I had to field on the way home !!!!!!!!!

Well here we go...update year 3
(for those that didn't notice- I'm the original thread starter and have followed up yearly)

For the last two years I have been able to renew @ $77 per year (including the MRF)

Last year of course they couldn't waive the MRF but instead gave my account a credit for the same exact amount to nulify it.

This year I was able to get both radios renewed for $172 ($86 per radio-that's the out the door price BTW) After doing some internet surfing, it looks like thats the best I can get. I seen a few other posts where people said they got 6 months or 5 mothns at $25 or whatever but I didn't feel like fussing over it that much this time around.

Bottom line is that you pretty much just need to say "Hey I see online that a lot of folks are getting renewed at half price- I want that too)

If they tell you to get bent, then just cancel...Your almost guaranteed to get a call within a few days to renew at a better price. I actually asked my rep that and he said "Yeah, we do that all the time- we just can't tell you that but since you brought it up"

PS- Congrats Sugarbear! I seen that is exactly what happened to you!

PS- at first, they offered me a 12 month contract at the 9 month price, which would of been $130.00 per radio..with a little persistance (and a 7 or 8 mintue wait on hold) he came back with $86 a year- total price.

See you all in a year ;-)
