No without paying seperate subscriptions right now. Congress is trying to block the merger for some stupid *** reason.

No merger yet. It has not happened and may not if idiots in the Free FM land have their say.

I think it's funny that people complain about not having enough money to buy the basic things in life due to high gas prices. Then they spend money on things like satellite radio and bottled water. Both of which you can get nearly the same thing for free.

I'm not ranking on satellite radio. If people will buy it, why not sell it? If someone figures out how to sell ice cubes to Eskimos, I say go for it.
Thing is, you don't pay for satellite radio to listen to the same recycled crap that you get for free on FM. If that's all that was on satellite radio, then you'd be right and it would be a senseless waste. Unless somebody is lucky enough to live in an area where there are 70 or so different FM stations.

I'm hoping the merger will bring better channel selections. Like I said, I've had both and there are channels from each I'd like to be able to pick and chose from.

I bought my first XM receiver in 2002, before Sirius was available. I was an XM subscriber up until about 2 weeks ago, I canceled "temporarily" due to a serious mistake XM made (that's another discussion).

So when I dropped XM, I picked up a Sirius receiver. I am into electronica, trance, house music. I prefer the XM stations to the Sirius stations. Sirius tries to be too much like "regular radio" with the crappy DJs and jingles, which I really do not like. The XM stations were more unique in their programming. For example, XM81 BPM has a program called Air 81 on Friday night which is 9 hours of live DJ sets from around the country; a DJ playing live in a club pumped into XM for 1 hour increments. It is truly unique, Sirius doesn't touch this.

But this discussion is like discussing religion, no one will ever agree. If you don't think it's worth the money, feel free to spend your money elsewhere.

I just thought of a better reason in one word UNCENSORED!!! Whether you get XM or Sirius that's the best reason of all. Man I'm gonna beat this thread to death.

For $6.99 @month as a companion unit to my wife's radio I'm well satisfied with it. Had no choice it was a Christmas present! It sound's great through the audiophile system. Light year's ahead of my first AM only radio in my '62 Impala!

first, they didn't merge. the politicians who must have fm stocks in their pockets are fighting it bigtime.
i had hoped they would. i have xm. at work we have sirius. had both since just about the inception. i personally chose xm for opie and anthony, and have found that i really enjoy ron and fez. at first i didn't think the music was much different. after a few years of both, i have to say i think sirius has the more distinct music channels. that is, if i want to hear certain bands or styles i know exactly which channels to go to. xm, although has good music, channels like lucy, fred and ethyl dont have a distinct line of reasoning. squizz is cool, boneyard is cool too. but i find myself scrolling through channels too much for my liking. they both have pros and cons. hardware choices, signal qualities, programming. i say merge and give me the best value for my dollar!

im new to this tread. kinda just stumbled on to it a couple of days ago and have been following it. My question is does one have a better signal then the other. I live in MT and would hate to have a either one and lose it going through a pass or in the woods.

You need a clear view of the sky for either to work. A very heavily wooded area may cause you to loose signal

I originally got Sirius to listen to NFL when my fav team was not shown locally. Since then I have added a second subscription and now have 3 with the '07 F150. I listen to classic vinyl and alt nation for tunes and Bubba the Love Sponge and Scottie Ferral and Howard. THe NFL talk shows, NASCAR and ESPN round out my listening pleasures. I'll never go back.

I stated earlier that I've had both. I have my XM antenna pretty much dead center of my roof, and when I had Sirius I had the antenna in the same spot. There are a couple of spots around my town where the signal drops out on my XM, (heavily wooded areas, 2 highway overpasses) and it also did in the exact same spots with Sirius.

I have XM with AOL & Directtv. Sirius in the truck. I prefer Sirius. Not a Howard fan,but I do like a lot of the other programming on 100/101. Bubba is great in the afternoons & I like the Ferral replays in the AM. I wanted factory Sirius with the new truck, but could'nt be located with the other stuff I wanted. Plug n play with the 150 is so much easier than the Rangers I had in the past!

I got XM because I added the XM Navtraffic tuner to my Kenwood Nav system. I hardly listened to the XM part of it for almost a month. Then one day I started to check out what the stations had to offer. I was hooked. I rarely have the radio tuner playing anymore except in the morning news to hear what happened that night. Kansas City is always dropping a body or two every night. Never a peacefull day. After that then it's back to XM all day. Here in a couple days I will be adding the Sirius tuner to the radio as well that way I can demo both to the customer.
