Sirius and Ford Connection

I have not given up trying to upgade my (2005 KR SC) Ford HU to Sirius without a PIE adaptor, etc. My Ford dealer says that he can upgrade the radio to have Sirius for the sum of $359 but I think he'll give it to me for cost.

In other words, if it works I'd just hit the AUX button and have Sirius. It would use the conventional radio display to show the Sirius information.

I've exhausted searches on the internet looking for an aftermarket device that would do it. Crutchfield indicated that they heard that something is coming on the market shortly but they did not have any other details.

Considering I'd have about $200 invested going the conventional route with the PIE adaptor, a bracket and a $75 Sirius receiver, this does not seem a bad way to go--much cleaner.

But I have a sneaking suspicion that when the Ford dealer goes to order the parts, they'll them it won't work.

If anyone has ventured into such a deal with their Ford dealer, let me know.

Hey tmitch333
I just talked to the ford dealer and they told me that they did not have a system like that. By any chance do you have a part number for the turner box.
Thanks

I'll look at it tomorrow and give you the PN, I'm not sure if that will get the harness for the unit.

What's the cost on the new Ford/Sirius unit that's coming as a 2006 option? Gotta be pretty close to the same.

Please explain

tmitch333, Could you please explain this upgrade? Was it a complete HU unit upgrade or just a adapter? Also I to would like a part number to provide my local Ford dealer. I like the idea of a clean console look. Thanks

Don

The unit is from Ford, it comes with a adapter harness that connects to the factory HU. Everything runs through the HU just like one from the factory. Here is the link to one on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Ford-SIRIUS-sate...QQcmdZViewItem

I have been looking for something like this to work with Sirius for a LONG time. However, at 300+, it just doesnt make that much sense. For $150, I'll pull the trigger, but at 300, you could get some really nice aftermarket stuff. Anybody find this any cheaper yet?
