also there have been many trucks catch fire due to the faulty cruise control harness, and the fire fighter probably figured since you had a ford it was the same thing (even though the body style is different)...

 

I just had my truck in for the recall fix last week. I found out about it by complete accident. I called them about a possible recall for the door crack problem, and the lady told me about the cruise control fire recall. They got me in and did it for free. Sure glad I found out about this! Mine is a 2000 HD edition.
