Good Exaust
Good Exaust
I'm looking into a new exaust for my 1995 F150 Longbed with the 4.9L I6 engine. Does anyone here have any recommendations on a good exaust? I'm looking for some improvement in power while at the same time getting a nice beefy sound. Gotta make it sound tough

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun ba ba ba
I'm very happy with my Flowmaster 50 series. Most all 6-cylinders I hear make kind of a FRAPPPA-FRAAAAAAPA sound, while mine makes a nice deep (for a six-popper) BU-WAAAAAAAAAAH. Makes sense eh?
I'm also running 3" pipe all the way, with no cat, side exit.

Ya but with the Gibson I can do it at home...it just bolt's right on...plus I have to stick with stock cat's, I was talking with Longbed Lighting on AOL IM the other night and he also said I should go with Magnaflow cat-back....Oh Decisions!

I really just dont want you to pay all the money and then regret it. If you just buy the muffler and tips and get a shop to do everything, I bet it will be close to the price of the Gibson, plus you will pick up power, there is no cab drone, it has a deep tone to it, and when you get on it, it will scream!!!
Get what you want, because in the long run that's the only thing that matters. I've yet to see a head to head comparison of a decent cat back system showing a clear winner.
Do a search for "bad boy exhaust" in the exhaust sections and see how a high flowing x piped system cost an owner torque and HP, and this was behind a blower application. Matter of fact I got off my butt and found it... Bad Boy X Pipe Exhaust
Proof that bigger isn't always better. The 300 doesn't flow as well as the 302, and even the 302 won't overcome a single exhaust with regular bolt ons. Go big and you will lose torque which is the strong point of the engine you have.
IMO people tend to think louder makes more power, it's human nature to an extent. I figured out long ago that this isn't often true. If you're buying for sound tone check out sound clips, otherwise any of the above mentioned will help the truck out.
The Supertruck being a dual exit is less restrictive than the Single Side Swept, and may cost you some low end torque. On the 300 it might be worth the trade off for possible increased flow at higher revs. The Force II Sytems seems to be fairly good at helping gain torque in tests I've seen. With the stock maniford neither will raise peak HP much, but they will raise the curve and strengthen it which really matters more than peaks anyway.
The dancing bannana bids you farewell!

I total agree; however, I did before and after comparisons of my exhaust setup many times, and I can tell you this is so much better than the flowmaster. Yes it does sound great at WOT, but it isnt as loud as the flow, but it has a much better tone. think about it, I have the same amount of exhaust gases flowing, but now 2 mufflers muffling it, not 1.
