"blower" is slang for any supercharger/turbocharger, most commonly applied to positive displacement types as in "blown alchohol dragster"

A blower is usually used as another term for a supercharger. You will also here people say they have a blown engine in there car. That doesn't necessarily mean it blew up, it just means it's supercharged.

If you want to get technical there are 3 types of superchargers, Roots, Twin Screw, and Centrifugal. The Roots style has 2 rotors that mesh together and compress air into the engine, these are usually the great big things you see on top fuel dragsters, and big muscle cars. The Twin screw is like a Roots style supercharger but it has 2 screw shaped rotors that mesh together to compress the air. A centrifugal supercharger has a turbine like a turbo, but it is belt driven where as turbos are exhaust driven. The centrifugal superchargers are nice because they are small and can be mounted anywhere on the front of the engine.

Just thought I'd clear up some confusion. The "late model" (ie fuel injected) 300 I-6 has 150 hp. I remember reading this in a Chilton's. A guy I worked with had an F-150 with a 300 and wanted to know the hp/tq numbers. So I looked it up for him. I remember 150 hp and 260 tq @ 2000 rpm's.

It's funny, with the 300 being 6 cylinders and the 302 being 8 cylinders, it can be a little misleading. We tend to think of 8's as bigger than 6's. But the two engines are virtually the same displacement, and in fact the I-6 is actually bigger than the 302's successor, the 4.6L Triton V8. I know you guys already knew this, but it's just kind of funny to really think about it.

Which specs, the factory ones, or your 600 hp one <g>

I would say slightly yes ( to the factory ones, as for 600 hp huummm... )

I think GMS claims upto 15 ( maybe 20 don't have it front of me straight away ) in certain RPM ranges, but not at the max hp area specific. I think the max hp band is was even or only 2 or 3 higher.

From teh seat of the pants dyno, it does seem to get easier, I don't need as much throttle to kick it into motion.
