Where is my......

I'm finaly getting around to changing the fuel filter but I'll need to reset the inertia(SP?) button. I know it's some where by the brake pedal but I don't know what I'm looking for or what it looks like. The only thing I see is a little square box, but I think it's my alarm because it has a bunch(10-15) wires coming out of it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Justin

Cool

Sprocket_X, I am not sure on the year of your truck but my '87 had it on the firewall behind the clutch/brake area. It would be about 3"x4" in size with a button on the top of it. I think it was a white button too, not sure though, could have been grey. Once you push it back down, everything should be fine. To tell you the truth, I have never even looked for it on my '94 but that is something that I will definitely look into. That is probably where I would start OR it should also be in your manual that comes in the glove compartment of the truck. That would be a definite place to look, it would have to be in there somewhere.

Just release the pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Don't screw with the inertia switch.

Take care,

The Schrader valve is the easiest as previosly stated, but for future reference i believe your inertia switch is up under the dash by the passeger side kick panel, right up behing the glovebox.

No, it's not bad, it's just not necessary.

Take care,

the shrader valve is on your fuel rail, it will look like a tire valve.

SPROCKET-
Just to make sure you're looking at the right item, on the 4.9L, it's in the very back of the engine compartment. In fact, I don't think I've ever actually seen mine, I just feel for it.

Take care,
-Chris

ya..I saw it when I put in my new PCV the other day...but I didn't know how to get to it so I just popped up the inertia button behind the passenger side kick panel and started the truck until it died(about 5 seconds) then replaced the fuel filter and pushed the button back down cleaned up and the truck started with no hesitation. It ran kinda crapy for a few blocks but I geuss that it just had to build up more pressure cuz it runs fine now...actualy I feel a difference in pedal response..I've had the truck for 40k now and it has 110k on it now and I don't know if the filter was ever replaced.

Thanks guys.
