How much for Tranny rebuild?

The e40d tranny in my truck is slipping pretty bad, especially on the 3-2 downshift. If i pull the tranny myself, and buy the rebuild kit ($230) and take it to a tranny shop, how much would they charge me for the labor to rebuild it??

first of all not to many shops actually rebuild the trannies. they usually get junk yard trannies clean them up and slap em in with new converters. i am not saying they all do it but thats how a lot of em do it here. my dad builds mine. he is a mechanic and specializes in building trannies. i have a e4od you can buy for cheap. it is good and has no leaks. just a thought

i'll give you the tranny for $200 if you are interested and we can probably meet up somewhere for me to get it to ya. wouldn't even have to ship it.

That would be awesome. Is it 2wd or 4wd? I'm going to check around see if any tranny shops still do actual rebuilds. If i can't find anything for a decent price i'll get that one off of you. It would be a week or two before i have the money though. A wild turkey flew through the windshield of my Dodge at 70 mph so i had to pay to have that replaced
