Cool

Oh, was I suppose to send some to you ???? Actually, I was thinking ... what if you just moved up here. Think of all of the HP & TQ that a bunch of us here around Windsor could make !!! They would have to call this the "HP City". Oh, was have a bunch of racing teams around here too, so you should be able to find a job fairly quickly with your experience. OR you could get your own business going (garage) and all of us Ford guys could come and bug you to make our '97 Fords go faster !!! LOL !!!!

The surf & turf I have been told is good around here !!! LOL !!!! Actually, there is no surfing here dude. Our lakes don't get waves large enough for that kind of stuff.

Cool

I checked under the truck last night and I have only 6 bolts holding the hitch to the frame, 3 on each side. Is there a way that I can haul more without buying a new hitch for the truck ???? My dad has an older head that would fit mine that has the holes for the levelling bars, will this help ???????????

what you refer to "leveling bars" is a Weight distributing hitch aka equalizer hitch . yes it will help if you have the bars . your hitch sounds like it'll be fine . just use the W/D hitch .

Thanks Macgyver !!!

I knew there had to be away around this. Now I hope that U-Haul will have trailers that use these bars or I can see if I can get them off of my Dad's tent trailer to use.

Thumbs down

you didnt mention u haul :-(. they're trailers normally use a surge brake system and a W/D hitch cant be used with surge brakes

Ok, now that wasn't very nice to tell me something like that !!!! This is going to be a pain in the butt to figure out because there is no place to store the trailer while we are not using once we arrive. I was hoping to leave the trailer at one of their lots for the few days and then pick it back up and head home.

sorry i hate to be the bearer of bad news . but the w/d hitch bars prevent the surge brakes from working correctly . i can't imagine a car trailer without brakes and being a rental i bet it has surge brakes.

Izzy,

Enough of the hassles. Just tell Neal to drive his "Track Queen" to the rally! Better yet, tell him to tow your truck down. I think he's just trying to save gas money for more mods!

Signmaster, who said I was talking about Neal and towing him to the rally ?????? I never said that anywhere ... did I ??? I better go back and look but I don't think that I did. BUT, since you asked about what truck and where I would be haulling that truck to. I might as well tell you that ........ I CAN'T TELL YOU. LOL !!!!! It is one of my buddies truck though and he isn't even sure whether he is going to move it this year maybe next year though ... who knows, it is just a good thing to know though !!!! Everybody likes making fun of my 20 ft. monster but when they ask her to go to work, she does just that without any hesitiation. Jamie's buddy (Brian) was putting in a inter-locking brick patio and sidewalk. His dad had a 3/4 ton chevy and they only loaded it with 110 bricks to move them from the store to his place. The other 115 went into Jamie's S-10 pickup. They needed another full stack, so I told Brian that I would get it with my truck. He didn't think that I could do it till I pull into his laneway with the full stack in the box. Goes to show you, Ford knows how to build them and the rest of them can ONLY try and catch up !!!!!!

from the sounds of it you have a better suspension then mine is/was stock . get the head from your dad and try the car trailer . i bet you'll be fine . also . most of them trailers (u haul, budget, ryder) are only rated @4300# max . i hope this truck weights less then that . you can position the truck on the trailer to ease off some of the tongue weight but not to much or you'll get alot of sway . (too much weight on the rear of the trailer causes sway aka fishtailing ) your hitch sounds like it'll be more then enough hitch for this application . my only concern is the suspension , but from your story bout the bricks you should be ok . the SWB reg cab suspension must not be as stout cause i had a load of oak firewood in my bed up to the box top and i was sitting on the stop bumpers . that is why i got the overloads . don't have to worry now .

Izzy,

I figured you let Neal talk you into trailering his truck to the rally! My bad....

With the proper distribution on the trailer it shouldn't be all that bad. I've towed a few hefty boats on short hauls and the truck did well. My truck seems to tow best with about 200-250 lbs tongue weight.

My all time max for this truck was 38' of twin engine offshore boat. Not something I really wanted to try, but I had a friend who munched the tranny on his truck and he was hesitant to leave someones quarter million dollar toy on the highway.
