engine temp

my truck has been developing a little problem this past week. after about 20 minutes of driving, the temp gauge (stock gauge) is reading a lot hotter than it used to read. the needle is around the A (you know how the gauge has no numbers, only has the word NORMAL going across). my truck used to always hold steady around the O after warming up. i thought maybe it was the electric fans, so i uninstalled them and put in the stock clutch fan, but i still have the same problem. after i shut off the truck, most of the coolant comes pouring out the reservoir. im gonna try changing the thermostat tomorrow, but if that doesnt help, what else could it be? i checked for leaky hoses but theyre all intact. the water pump was replaced about 5,000 miles ago so i really hope thats not the problem. is there any way to test to see if the water pump is going bad (without having to install a new one)? any suggestions? thanks!

if the temp steadily rises and doesn't drop any during this time . the T stat is stuck . hows the oil pressure? has your pushrod/lifter problem been fixed ? has it gotten worse? didn't you also have a leaking rear main seal? does it also do this sitting at an idle . not driving? does it do it on the freeway? pull the t stat read what temp it says it is on it . place it in a pan of water . heat it on the stove with a thermometer in the water . check to see if it opens at the temp it says it is on the t stat . if it doesn't replace it . hell they are cheap enough . if ya got it out replace it just for S**TS and Giggles. but the pan test will tell you if it was stickin or not .

oil pressureis holding normal. rear seal has not been fixed yet, but i check the oil every day and add oil whenever it needs it, so its never low on oil (the leak is a very small one). lifters were making noise due to the fact that the truck was low on oil before i found out the rear seal is leaking. thermostats are cheap so im gonna go and buy one tomorrow and replace it, hopefully that will fix the problem.
