Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't switching from a manual transmission to an automatic a pretty tricky operation. Wouldn't you have to change your ECU out, which you would have to do any ways when you swapped a 351 in? But what about the shifter? Manuals are on the floor while the autos are on the column. Would you have to get a new steering column and a gear indicator for the dash? I'm sure you probably already have it figured out I just wanted to make sure

ive pretty much got all that planned out. as far as the ecu goes, for my year, the trannys are not computer controlled so i have no problem (since the C6 isnt computer controlled either). for the shifter, im going to be installing a B&M light truck megashifter for a C6 transmission, which mounts right where my 5 speed shifter is now. now all i need is to win the lottery so i can do it all at once!

I'm just curious, but why do you want to switch from a MAN to a AUTO? I can't stand driving anything auto..but thats just me.

oops nevermind...I didn't read your first post clear enough...about the 5spd not liking all that torque.

well, with a nice 351 making a good amount of torque and a C6 with some valve body adjustments and a B&M shifter, i think the truck will be just as much fun (if not MORE fun) to drive as a manual.

Check out www.artcarr.com
and www.jetchip.com

They mention Art Carr alot in the 4x4 mags. Maybe a call to them will gain you some quick important info re:C6 transplant.

Keep us informed of your progress during your break.

i checked out artcarr.com, and theyve fot an AOD that can handle up to 800 horses! that would be perfect for my setup, its got plenty of strength, plus its got the overdrive gear (that the C6 is lacking). i emailed them and asked tehm a few questions, lets see what they tell me. thanks for the tip!

Good. I think they advertise in the Mustang mags too, but I've been out of the Mustang loop for quite awhile.

Automatics are cool.
