i have had the e4od, it was ok, will never go with one again tho. i always liked the c6 and it's an easier rebuild so. costs more on the gas mileage tho, but thats ok

I had a 351 W H.O. in my '85 F-150 4x4. The engine was built pretty stout because of the pulling my dad did with it. It was running around 350-375hp. Behind it was a C-6. The pickup died 2 years back because of a misfortune of me rolling it. The tranny took ALOT and I mean ALOT of abuse by me and my dad. It had 275,000 miles on it. All original, no rebuild, nothing. Also we had a lift and 33's on it. Gas mileage was horrible, then again it had a Holley 650 double pumper.

My vote is for the C6. I had the e4od and it was a piece of ****, take my word it won't handle the power, it would not handle my "semi" built 302.

any of you guys ever heard of phoenix transmissions? are they reliable? they have remanufactured C6's with torque converters for only 350.00. is this a little too good to be true? summit's C6's range from $750 to $1000.

hummmm ......lmao
another odd note . i just said lets see what happens and pressed on the "buy it now" button for an AOD. well an alert popped up said the certificate date was ok and a good cert but it wasnt for the site it was intended....lol

i would call the listed phone number i found and have the web site open and ask them if it is them and if that is the prices or what?

the reason the mustang guys go with c4 transmissions is to use the old maverick style bellhousings so they can get header clearance and run scattershields and trans blankets secondary is less rotating mass for faster rev out
if you go with a c6 you can also use a e4od planet set to get a lower 1st gear ratio
if you use an aod that is built properly it will survive behind 300hp for street use and showing off to friends and if you do the math you may want to go to 4.11 rear ratio and still have a decent rpm level at highway cruise i have 32in tires and 3.55 ratio and turn 2800 rpm at 65mph in direct and 2000 even in od if you are serious about a 351 and auto why not consider buying a crown vic or ltd from the early 80s as a running donor car for trans and engine

what ever you do , I.E. donor car , junk yard. measure your tail piece . make sure the tail piece on the C6 is the same length(or overall trans length is the same). ya don't wanna have to have a custom made driveline
