5.8 Am I the Lone Ranger

All I read about is 302--302--302==5.0--5.0--5.0

I am going crazy

Am I the only one in the wotld with a 93/ 5.8

Didn't anybody but me get their trucks with the 5.8

Damn salesman tried to talk me out of oderering the 5.8 and 3.55s
Said I wouldn't need it.

Now I see his real reason was so I wouldn't feel like the Lone Ranger.

Everybody talking how great the 5.0/302 is , then the damn 5.8 must be good for something besides burning gas
Even the Dodge 5.9 has more horses and torque and it is a dinosaur

I dunno why the 5.0 was so popular in these trucks; the 5.8 was known as a truck engine.

Seems like everyone has a 5.0. I searched for a 5.8 when I bought my truck, but they were all in really bad shape (truck as a whole.)

Bought a clean 5.0 with only 66,000 miles on the clock. Not bad for a '91 in '99.

The good thing about the 5.0 is that is probably one of the most trouble free engines Ford ever made.

Cool

I've heard that the 351 isn't much better for the everyday person running around. In my year ('94) the 351 has something like 5 - 10 HP more and the torque is like 30-50 lb-ft more. The 351 also burns more gas than the 302 for the same type of trips. Generally the people who where buying these trucks didn't need the 351 and chose the 302 instead. Not loosing much in the HP & TQ catagories and is better on fuel economy. How could you beat it.

Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'

I have a 5.8 351 w in my 89 f150 4x4. i have 3.55's c6 tranny, 4inch lift 33's bfg. boy i get like 8 miles to the gallon. I am searching for ways to save on mpg other than selling my truck. by the way ford's inline 6 300 cu inch block was the best block ford ever made. it had a little less hp and almost as much torgue as the 302. i hauled a cement mixer with taht truck and it was fine. the 302 is famous for rear main seal leaks. at least where i live.

I think we could argue forever on the best block FORD ever made, ....just goes to show FORDs quality

Anyway, I don't see anything wrong with the 5.8's! I've always been impressed when I drove them, and if it wasn't for the fact you need a tanker to follow you everywhere, I'd have one!

When I test drove a used truck with the 351W, it got better mileage than the 302... Problem was, the rest of that truck was falling apart--not well cared for.

UncBob, nice lookin truck
I think trucks are more for looks now than for makin a livin out of. That may be why dealerships carry 5.0 trucks mostly, not a lot of new trucks with 351's

You are not the only one with the 5.8. Even though the 5.0 is mighty, I just swapped in the 5.8 to my truck. Let the gas guzzling begin.
