New to site...Need info about 4r70w compatible interchanges or if it's possible in my 1996 5.0 f150.

Car-part.com shows that you need an exact match. 2wd and 4wd are different. Pre-96 is not OBD2 and the bellhousing pattern changed in 97 with the switch to the Triton V8. You might be able to use a pre-96 out of a 5.0 or a 97 out of a V6, but I'm not sure. 98 and newer V6 would need a harness repin. I don't think you can use a Crown Vic or Mustang transmission.

i'm running a 2003 f150 4.2L 4r70w behind my 302 in my truck. I had to re-pin the connector on the side. and run the neutral switch for the 96, had to swap the lever for it by dropping the pan. but was pretty easy. Mines also 4x4.
