Headers

Well- my drivers side exhaust manifold cracked. I figure I might as well put on headers now. Anybody running headers? If so do you reccomend any certain brand. I would like to bolt them up to my stock exhaust.
Thanks in advance
Mark

Flow tech makes a good strong set.Direct fit with no probs.I think they run around $160.

I've heard good input on the Summit truck headers as well. I think they are also in the $150-160 price range.

Whatever you do dont get Flow-Tech's. Had some on my 88 F-150 302 and the welds down on the collector flange popped within 10,000 miles. Add to that the fact that they would not cover them under warranty. Go with Pacesetter, Edelbrock, or Dynomax. All of them are good. I replaced mine with Pacesetters, ordered them from JC Whitney. About 200 - 250 bucks if I remember right. Plus they are Cerama-Coat. They worked great until my baby died on me and left me out in the cold 20 miles from anywhere.

Exclamation

I have the pacesetters, too. Working fine. Just don't use the gaskets that come with them. Get full copper gaskets or you'll have to replace the gaskets in less then a year. I'd recommend a set of locking bolts as well.

Just my experience...

Well I decided to go with the summit truck headers. Got them today and guess what- they are made by flowtech! They say flowtech right on them. I guess I am going to keep them and give them a try. I will let you guys know what I think when I get them on.

Well the installation was a sinch. Bolted on great and fit perfectly. They looked like a great product with perfect welds. I would have to recommend them, but I will let you guys know if I have any future problems.

Good luck with them. Maybe I just got a bad set or something. I thought the welds looked good too but who knows. Must've been made on a Friday! Remember to torque them down again about a week after install. And recheck them every oil change. They do loosen since they expand and contract so much. Once again good luck and let us know if you have any problems.
