1993 F150 ticking sound when accelerating. driveshaft?
There's a ticking sound cominf from underneath my truck like the drive shaft. Could it be my u joints? This noise has been going on for while when I'm at a dead stop and shift gears just recently started getting louder while driving 30+/- when the TC locksup. I have the supercab so it has 3 u joints. ANY help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, scott PROBLEM SOLVED IT WAS A LOOSE EXHAUST HANGER ON THE DRIVER SIDE.

The new exhaust has been for 3 days its coming from the back. I can hear it when I'm in reverse and turning the wheel or when I'm at a dead stop and shift gears then start moving
I follow the reason he asked the question. I've had 3 vehicles from that body style period, and every one of them "ticked". It was an odd thing to diagnose the first time around, becuase it seemed to happen infrequently and at odd times. Turned out to be a cracked exhaust manifold on two of them and a leaky exhaust header on one of them. It's pretty common. The other thing to check is that all the exhaust pluming: air pumps, catalytic converters, etc... are all hooked up. Is your truck a 5.0? Are the exhuast ports in the back of the heads plugged or tubbed as they should be?
Good luck with you search.
