Three on the Tree...
Three on the Tree...
Was just thinking about a truck I had for the winter in high school...
It was Three on the Tree! Pretty cool I thought...
Any around that maybe look good that have it here?
The one I had I picked up for like 700 bucks. Wish I had a pic.
Was blue and white and rust... LOL With near springs for a seat used thick blankets as seat covers.
Proudly earned the winter beater title!!

I'm runnin' two. Always love the, "Whys your automatic have a clutch?" question when I leave it in reverse.

Hmmm, thats my dad drivin'. Was just thinkin' about him as well. He loved that truck.
Anyway, some more detailed pictures from my '66.

I had a 62 , with a 292, thre on the tree. I couldn't keep I beam bushings in that truck.
I had a 72 4X3, 351 Cleveland, 4 on the floor with the granny low. That truck would pull anything you could hook up to it.
Edit: Make that 4X4, sheese 4X3

Mine was my first vehicle, 63' E-100, 6 Cyl. Falcon engine, 3 on the tree. Best of my 9 fords since. My current 87' 302 does a pretty good job for me though.

Yeah, that brings back memories...
My own Dad had a '70, with a 3-on-the-tree 6 cylinder. He used to call it the best running 5 cylinder truck on the planet (one of the cylinders had dropped, but we never knew why). Bullet-proof engine, that 6.
The steering column collar was broken for the shifter too, so we had a hard time keeping the damn thing stuck in there and functioning.
Earlier, we also had a '56 F-100, 3-speed (tree) and V8. Too bad it was a longbed.

Adrian??? Did the OIL and ALT guages come like that in your 66? From the factory? Do the OIL and ALT lights also work?
PS: I have a '65 F-100 with that same dash, 352 and 4 on the floor minus the OIL and ALT guages. Wish I would of kept it running, had too many vehicles and just parked it.

I wish. It wasn't beat, but it was primer gray and had the steel reinforced rear bumper - read: work truck. It had *****, though. And wide reverse chromes with baby moons on it. Sat pretty well.
And I'll never forget the smell of it. A combination of old gas, new gas, burnt oil, a little clutch... It was a pretty drafty truck, and those smells never go away. (The heater worked well, though.) We put a new clutch in it (was my first clutch job), and I distinctly remember adding a new rubber fuel line on a very cold New Years Day in 1978.
Knowing what I know now of the '56s, I'll have another someday - a shortbed this time. All depends on time and money. Always, time and money...

My dad had a late 70's Econoline van, which he bought new, that had "3 on the tree" with the inline 6 I believe. He had that thing for years, and I remember growing up, we called it "rusty the wonder truck". I wish I had some pics of it, spent many weekends helping\watching the old man bondo the rusted out wheel wells. I remember on the way back from a camping trip one time, a tire iron fell through a rusted out spot in the back of the van and was sparking down I-95. Took us a while to figure out what the hell was going on.
Ahh, the memories indeed.

I hear ya on too many vehicles, but I do my best to keep everything on the road. Deployments are my biggest obstacle.
