New guy with a hello and question

First, I was excited to find this forum. Seems like a nice bunch of folks.

Second, here is my "new" toy. It's a 91 with 135k on it and a 5.0 litre automatic (bummer, but the price was right!)

Lastly, I am noticing a ticking coming from the left front at speeds under 30. If I touch the brake it stops. Previos owner said it's been doing it for 10 years and has not gotten louder. I hear it in 2 or 4wd.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Nice Truck!
Welcome to the forums!
Might be a bearing or a U-Joint on the front axle.

im thinkin speedo gear/cabe, if it makes the noise in both 2wd/4wd, then its something other than front u-joints... theyd make a pop noise if you shift back and forth or turning... might also be the brake rotor/caliper cant really help ya w/o more info

Welcome! Nice truck too!

I had a ticking noise on my left front wheel too and it was the hub sticking. It worked itself out though (didn't have time to look at it and after a few days it quit and everything's working good again.) but I have auto hubs and it looks like you have manual so not sure if that's your problem or not.

I'm going to go with aswaff400 on this one. How far forward is the ticking sound coming from? I have cruise control on my 88 and it has a ticking sound just forward of the firewall where the cruise stuff is located.

Oh my, that is a sexy truck for sure. 4x4, shorty, black.... mmmm

Anyway welcome to the forum. One weakness though is diagnosing sounds. Do you have a video feature on your camera or phone?

I appreciate the comments!

I tried to isolate the sound this weekend. I have some junk to pull out from under it as it was used to put up a few ladder stands on my hunting property....wow can it get through the mud. I was incredibly impressed.

I'm really leaning toward something brak related as it stops with the slightest touch of the brake pedal. I don't think it's something stuck as it has been doing it for a long time.

Thanks again and I'll report back soon!
