Here's about the only thing I really like my long bed for: You can strap a Harley (or other full size bike) to the bed with the tailgate up. Believe it or not, the tires just touch on both ends.
thanks for quick replies
thanks for the quick replies. I actually have a yamaha r6, didn't even consider the bike for towing. what a pain that was in my current truck. Thanks guys. going with the long bed just due to functionality of it.
I take mine up to Oregon all the time. About 900 miles one way. You know what can happen with a trailer & a panic stop. W/ the bike strapped to the bed, top dead center, I can slam the brakes at 85 and the truck stops straight as an arrow. I used to drive stunt boats for a living & my first instinct isn't brakes anyway, it's steering around. In a swerve & correct maneuver, trailers are never willful participants. I bolted a front wheel choke to the bed so I just drive it up the ramp and into the choke which locks in. I got a ATV ramp set & bolted them together. My bike's a little under 700 pounds. I haven't a clue as to why, but it unloads easier that it loads (which is still only a 1 man event). Trailers suck also cause your trippin over the thing when your not using it!
Go to "Edmunds.com" and enter the criteria you are looking for, in the geographical area you are willing to drive to. You'll be amazed at the number of trucks out there. It seems this is the venue that alot of small dealers (wholesalers) use to sell trucks. It's how I found my 95 Bronco, and it was 200 miles away.
