5.0 to 5.8 swap staring saturday!

i was gonna rebuild my 5.0 and stoke it for more cubes but my dad came across a wrecked extremely low miles f150 with a 5.8L this afternoon. got the complete truck for less than 700 bucks and the motor runs sounds and looks like new there's not a single leak under the truck. it also has front and rear sway bars, power windows/locks/mirrors, and one thing that i want: cruise control

im stripping all the parts i want off it and either parting out the rest or scrapping it to the junk yard... so if anyone needs any parts, let me know within the next few weeks!

Be sure to keep the front spring perches from the donor. You cannot mount the front sway bar without them.

You need the donor tranny and PCM as well as the engine.

Nice truck. You got the stainless steel front bumper like mine without the molding.

update?

well i finally have a weekend off! been trying to work on pulling the motor out of my donor truck but its hard to do with a lack of help. got all the accessory brackets off and radiator removed. im having a hard time removing the exhaust. the bolts on the manifolds (y-pipe to manifold) wont budge even with a impact wrench or breaker bar. broke out the saw-zaw for the old exhaust... i should have the motor pulled by tomorrow afternoon and on the stand.

What are you going to do about the tranny?
The powertrain harness for the 351 won't match your 4R70W. Are you pulling the E4OD as well?

i thought about using my harness off of the 302, i have both trucks side by side and everything looks identical except for the upper intake manifold, and optional accessories. my 4r70w has literally 1/8th mile on it. i had it built then when doing the road test #8 piston gave out. that was a nice chunk of change. i'll also be using my alternator as it too is brand new and 200 amps...

Which PCM are you using?
If you use the one from the302, is the firing order on your 302 the same as the 351?

yes, the '94-'96 302 has the same firing order as 351:
1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

'93 and earlier 302 is:
1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

my donor truck is same year, made at the same plant and only 2K off on the production #, just a fyi lol

another update?!

got the motor pulled out of the truck this morning... i sanded the oil pan down as the paint was flaky on the bottom and re painted. changed the water pump. it didn't need it but extra insurance. i should have the motor in on friday if im off and the weather stays clear (tropical storm!)

i also soaked everything under the hood of my truck with degreaser for 3 hours and pressure-washed the frame rails. after it dried i tried that Dupli-Color rubberized undercoating on the cross-member and frame rails. looks really good. now i need to paint the firewall as some of the paint was blasted off lol
