IMO it aint worth it. that looks like more than surface rust to me. is it the 4spd auto or manual? if its the manual then it wont get much for fuel mileage.

For a winter beater, it's probably worth it as long as the floor isn't rotted out, try for $1000 tops. If it's a manual, that will be non-overdrive with granny low.

Well... Do you really want a "project truck"... It looks as if there is a significant amount of rust involved...

i got a 88 f250, 66,000 miles, No rust just a beat up tailgate, 5.8L mated to a C-6 Tranny for $200.00 BUT i traded in a 83 f150 that was going to cost me alot to fix. So i would say no.

Keep looking you can find better rides out there. Unless your in a rush you still got another month or two before the snow really hits anyway

Unless you live in the rust belt, you may not have a concept of what a "winter beater" is. If it runs good, it's worth it in that area. The only way you are going to do any better is travel to a different area of the country to find a cheap used 4x4, and anything that cheap with a good body will probably have mechanical issues.

my parents used to live in Ohio, the whole "rust belt" excuse is a lame one for lack of maintaining a vehicle...

my parents still have their '89 aerostar and it went everywhere in the "rust belt" and it's not rusted out...
