Truck wont start....
We used the distributor out of my original motor because the plug in is different on the one that came on the motor I got. Using the trucks original ignition module and yeah i routed the spark plug wires the way they were in the diagram. I'm using the coil that was on the truck but I tried using the coil off the new motor but it didnt change anything. I dont have a fuel pressure gauge so I cant check the pressure.
Yeah it was in a 86 F150, the guy rebuilt it and used it for a little bit then he took the motor out and scraped the truck because it was a rust bucket. He said when it was rebuilt they replaced the cam but it was just a stock replacement.
Get a fuel pressure gauge. The cam for a carb engine isn't the same as for an EFI (in several ways) and neither are the timing cover, water pump, block, intake/exhaust manifolds... I hope you stripped it to a short block & then transferred EVERYTHING. It might eventually run, but it'll never be right until you get the right cam in it.
