Pinion nut overtightened at factory?

Angry Pinion nut overtightened at factory?

Well, I just talked to a guy at Randy's Ring & Pinion about installing a posi in my '95 F150, and my noisy pinion bearings (snce 92k, now at 100k), and he told me that they see a lot of '92 and later ones with noisy bearings, and they believe that the pinion nut was overtightened at the factory. Anybody else seen this?

no but with the mileage you have on it it was just about time for the bearings to be replace when was the last time u changed gear oil

I changed the gear oil when I replaced the axle (wheel) bearings, at 94k. I've had cars go over 200k without having to replace anything other than axle bearings.
