Question 95 Mass Air...

I have a 95 f150 5.0. I noticed it has mass air. I was wondering if there is any benefit by switching to a larger unit? Also, The intake tubing and the air filter box look real restrictive. Would I see any increase in power if I went to a cone-type K&N directly off the mass air? Sorry for these basic questions...I'm not new the the 5.0 mustang scence, just to 5.0 f-150's.

Thanks guys,
scott

I had a FIPK kit on my '95 + 3" catalytic & cat back. It ran great at 4000 rpm but down where we run em, 2000-3000 rpm, it lost power & wouldn't pull hills near as well.

I had a 95 5spd which means it had Speed Density. I noticed a nice improvement (small, but still I noticed SOMETHING) just by adding a K&N Panel filter into the stock airbox.. I added JBA shorty headers and a Gibson 3" Catback and noticed almost nothing which stunk given how much they cost. The sound difference was barely worthwhile..I'm all for changing exhaust just for sound but that didn't do it for me.

As you might already know adding a Cone filter right onto the mass air meter MAY cause problems in the meter element reading the air since the flow might be adversely directed at the wires. You'll never know until you try. If the filter right on the meter hurts performance, try adding tubing between the filter and MAM to see if that straightens out the airflow.. Just my .02.
