Strange Ranger makes a good point, many manufacturers actually do make go-fast goodies for the 4.9 "Big 6", you just have to dig a bit more for them.
The top 3 most cost effective performance enhancements for these computer-controlled F-150's are:
1.) Optimize the powertrain programming with the Superchip, which will add 15 hp & 31 lbs./ft. of torque to the 4.9 motor. It will also remove the top speed limiter, and firm up the shifting if you have an automatic model. They are available directly from us, just shoot us an email or give us a call for details.
2.) Reduce restriction in the air intake tract, using an airbox elimination kit, like K&N's FIPK kit. That will get you about 10 more hp on the 4.9 motor, and they are available right here in F-150 Online's store, which you can access by clicking on the link on the left side of your screen that says "Online Store".
3.) Reduce restriction on thr exhaust side using a good aftermarket cat-back exhaust system, that will get you another 8-10 hp on the 4.9 motor. Many brands are available, and those too can be found in the Online Store here.
Clifford, as Strange Ranger mentioned, makes a lot of hardware like intake, camshafts, headers,. etc. a lot of it is intended primarily for earlier non-computer controlled vehicles, but they also have some things for the computer controlled vehicles as well is my understanding. They've been around a long time, with many satisfied customers.
