It might be if its a long bed or a short bed, 3/4ton or a 1-ton, but other than that, should be the same.

they say the 133" wheelbase 1/2 ton frame is different betweent the two years. Something about the frame being a little bit closer to the engine in one area. I'm going to try to find someone w/ an 87 and compare their frame to mine. If it looks the same, do you think it would be wise to go ahead and get the one's for an 87 and try to make them fit? or do you think doug thorley knows what they are talking about?

I can't believe that there is a difference. You might go to www.ford-trucks.com. They probably could give you better/more help on this issue. I wouldn't think it would be a difference honestly.

Post 87 vs. 88 frame

is the frame on an 87 f150 any different than the frame on an 88? i thought they were the same. i finally found a place that sells thorley tri-y's, but they only list them up through the 87 model; they claim it is because the 88 has a different frame. thanks for all replies.

I seem to remember that the underside of the '87 was a bit different than my '88. I had to pull some transmissions out of them (four times on my '88 before I got it built to the C-6 standard) and it was quite a different process.

However as far as the engine being placed differently I couldn't really say, other than I would go that route just to be sure.
