95 4.9 FIPK compatable
I was thinking about K&N FIPK for my 95 4.9L.Do they even make one for it?What kind of performace should I expect?I want to get a few more horses but would really like to improve the mpg. What other add ons would help with this?A guy I work with has answers but he drives a chev.I figure to get the proper FORD info, talk to FORD PEOPLE!
I'm not exactly sure if they do make one for it. You might check with the manufactor or a distributor about that one.
The FIPK is supposed to give up to 19% more power and mpgs. A better freer flowing exhuast will help as well as a chip. I think an exhaust will add about 2-4 mpgs and a chip should add about the same.

As you can see I have a similar set up with the 4.9L. The K&N FIPK set up you're looking for is going to be the generation 1 series, model #57-2503. (yours may differ) As for what you'll notice out of it is going to be a little quicker throttle responce, and for lightfooters, a little better gas milage. (I have no realized gas milage improvement with my mods) For once in my life I'm going to have to disagree with Pastmaster, I believe the key word in his post is "SUPPOSED TO" give 19%......... This may be true on a V-8, I'm not sure.
But back to the big great 4.9! I swear by the Superchip, as do many people on this board. It really brought this engine alive! I would also do a cat back exhaust system, but make sure you do your research on that. The 4.9 is a little more difficult to get a decent sound out of. I have the Gibson 3" side swept and I don't believe there is a sound difference.
At any rate, good luck, and keep us posted as to what you do!

'94 F-150, 4.9 6cyl., K&N FIPK, Mangecor 8mm wires. Gibson 3" Side Swept, MSD Blaster Coil, superchip. Just stolen: Pioneer DEH-P835R Head Unit, Rockford Fosgate 200a1 pushing 2 RF 10" subs. Pirelli Scorpion A/T 255/75/15. Est. 200 hp 300ft/lb. Torque! Not bad for a straight 6!! Also driving the girlfriend's '94 Mercury Grand Marquis.

Strange,
I have never run the truck on the strip, regretably. I can say that by seat of the pants that there was a slight, but noticeable difference. From my understanding, Jardine's set ups will produce a slightly higher HP/Torque gain. If I were to do it again, I probably would have gone with the Gibson Supertruck simply for the look. I'm also assuming that there would be slightly better flow since the tailpipe doesn't route over the rear axle.
I'll tell ya what.....I'll sell ya the truck and you can play with it yourself!
