bought an 87....

I just picked up a toy.An 87 short bed reg cab with a 5.0 auto. The tranny feels like a 3 speed,is it a C-6?Also it seems like the rear gears are not stock.Going from 1 mile marker to the next the ODO only turns between 8/10ths and 9/10ths.How can I tell the ratio?Oh yeah, there is no tach and I have one from a previous toy, where is the tach sensor under the hood? Thanks in advance.

Could be an AOD, shifter display of PRN(D)D1, or a C6 with a display of PRND21.

Is this a Toy as in toyota or. 87 Ford toy. If it is the toyota, to check what gears it has you might call the dealer. Eather way the VIN can be read by thedealer and they can tell you. The other way is to pull the cover and it is stamped on the ring rear. I useto know how to turn the pinion and mark the wheel to find out what raito a rear end had. but that was back in my second life.

Word. 17 pan bolts is the other thing you can check to verify a C6.

Block the front wheels, jack up the rear end, mark the driveshaft, and count how many times it turns with one spin of the tire.

Could also post the axle code on the door jam sticker if it is still readable.
