4Lo Problem

I have a 1988 F150 Supercab 4x4... I am unable to engage the shifter into 4LO... I can get it into 4HI no problem...
I have acquired this truck from my brother... It has been sitting for a couple of years... Anybody with any answers?

Lock hubs in after t-case is engaged.(this helps as there is no pressure from the front axle)
Slip transmission back and forth between reverse and 1st or drive and reverse while depress the t-case shifter into 4-Low.
Never seen one not go in without some persistance.

4Lo Problem

thanks to Colorodo Osprey and 96 Big Red for replying... While waiting I soaked the heck out of the Transfer Case with a penetrating oil and after a couple of days I gave it a tap with a hammer, today the shifter engages into 4Lo smoothly with no problem. It must have been a little rusty from sitting for so long. Good to know that this sight is around for help on other problems that may come up.

9/10 of the time a T case shifting issue will be in the linkage. Glad you got it fixed and it wasnt something mor major.

Usually the pivot bolt binds up and ya gotta pull it apart to remove the rust.

This shifter style applies to the '88-'91 without the E4OD.
