95 150 tires
95 150 tires
I've got a 95 F150 4x4 with some very worn out, horrible since they were new, BFG long trail TA tires size P235/75R15 on the factory eddie bauer aluminum rims. Before the snow hits I'm going to need new tires. It looks like there is plenty of room for larger tires with the stock suspension. I'm looking for sugestions on tire size, what I can fit, and recomendations on brands and models of tires. I am not pulling my F150 out of the driveway with an Explorer every time it snows again this year.
I like the Michelin LTX AT's in 235-75-R15 on the 92 and 88. Allthough I will be replacing them on the '92 with really nice but discontinued Firestone Steeltex's.
If you wanna go big without a lift, 33x12.5 will stuff under if you space your front bumper out with some washers. I went with ProComp 33"x12.5 on the '84.

BFGs are known for being terrible in the white stuff
What gears do you have?
With 3.55s you have way more ability to accommodate taller tires than you do with 3.08s. Either way anyincrease in tire diameter is going to reduce your performance although an inch or two won't hurt dramatically. If you just want to go wider 255/70-15 are nearly the same rolling diameter as the 235/75-15s.
Are you looking for winter tires or for all season tires?
Take a look at the Tire Rack surveys:

The BFGs are not only bad in the snow but rain too, even with my L6 5 speed and 3.08s. I may just go with the stock size though they look small in the wheel wells with goodyear ranglers. I've had very good luck with them on the 98 explorer (drove 35 miles during a blizard with over 2 feet of snow on un plowed roads in 4 high without a problem) thanks for the replies keep them coming,

Ditch the passenger car tires and get some truck tires! I absolutely love the tires I have on my truck (Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 31x10.5R15's). The last set lasted me 7 years. They look good, function excellent, and ride decent.

I just got Toyo Open Country A/T 31x10.5x15 They ride real nice.
Town Fair Tire(if they have em in your area) matches any price. I went down one day, they tried to get me for $800. Went back the next day with a printout from an online place at $115/tire and I was out the door for $550 with an alignment.
