Shocks?

I'm looking to find some shocks that are going to be good on bumpy trails and the "hell road" out to deer camp. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg but I also don't want shocks that are crap(Napa 13.95 ea.) I'm looking at either SkyJacker hydro's or Procomp Es3000's. Any recomendations?

ProComps suck. I hate my ES300s...I am glad they were free. I cant complain, everthing made by 4WP is crappy anyway. Bilsteins are good, and no one can bash Rancho.

my dad had rs5000's on his 84 chev when I was young and he told me he loved them. Then he put them on his 93 gmc when he bought it and he went through 3 pairs in a few years. So I'm hesitant on buying rancho because they may have slacked off on the making them. Or mabey it was just his truck that made them pre-maturly wear

In general, you get what you pay for. If there were a really good cheap shock on the market, all the expensive shock makers would be out of business. You'll find people who swear by Bilstein, KYB, Koni, Edelbrock, Rancho, etc. None of them are exactly cheap. The only economical shock I've ever heard anything good about is the Monroe Sensa-Trac. No personal experience with them though.

I recently installed a set of Bilsteins, and have absolutely no regrets.

I've always been a fan of Ranchos. RS5000's are nice but a little stiff for everyday driving. RS9000's are great but are a little more expensive than the 5000's. I just bought a set of RS5000's for my offroader for $32 bucks a piece.
