Speed sensors

I've been reading a few threads, that have the same problem as I (abs light/cruise control not working). I was curious as to where the speed sensors that feed the ABS are. I looked by the wheels and couldn't find them. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've seen that one. Is that the only speed sensor on the truck?

On the 94 (at least), yes, it is the only speed sensor. It is used by the RABS, speed control, the PCM, and the PSOM.

BTW, does your speedometer/odometer work? If so, the sensor has to be working.

Yes it works. What else could take out the ABS and cruise control?

If F13 is blown, you also loose brake lights and the shifter interlock (if automatic).

If F13 is blown, you need to immediately inspect the Speed Control Disconnect Switch for fluid leakage before your truck goes up in flames. You'll be getting your recall notice in the mail very soon.

The brake lights don't work, but the shifter does. Again I'll check the fuses when I get off. Thanks

You and strangeranger are correct. Although I could still shift out of park. The brake lights work now, but I haven't driven around to check if the ABS will quit blinking. I imagine it will though. Thanks for all your help guys! I appreciate it.

Something caused that fuse to blow; that's not something that "just happens"
If your truck has not been recalled for the speed control warranty fix, contact your Ford dealer immediately, like Project SHO said you're driving a time bomb. In the meantime disconnect the "Brake Pressure Applied Switch" by unplugging the wire from the top front of the master cylinder in front of the brake reservoir. It's the black 2 wire connector with one black/yellow wire and one pink/orange wire. Until you get the free fix from your dealer, you will no longer have speed control but your truck won't burn up either.

Just cause I'm curious what may have caused it to blow? A short? The fluid he said to look at, he talking bout brake fluid? Sorry I'm kind of new this truck. Where exactly is this speed control disconnect switch?

There is a known problem with this generation of truck which has caused several fires and at least one death. It has to do with a malfunction of the cruise control circuit causing the wiring to overheat, melt the reservoir and ignite the brake fluid. The ignition does not have to be on for this failure to occur. Ford has a recall in place to fix these trucks. The fix is free and takes about 20 minutes. Only the dealer can implement the fix; Ford has not yet released the parts to the general market. Until you get it taken care of you are in some danger of a fire.

Until you get this taken care of either drive your truck to a dealer and have them disconnect the Brake Pressure Applied Switch or do it yourself as I described it above. (They will do it for free and schedule the appointment to complete the warranty repair at the same time)
