All-right, so I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack! Does sound like an idea, though. First thing tomorrow I'll give it a try, and let you know what happened. Thanks again, Peace, Dave.

Well, the results are in, I now have chattering valves and a flaky alternator. Oh well. I took the belt off and the noise is still there. I geuss it's the radio fix now! Thank you everybody for your help, I'll see you on the forums. Peace, Dave.

I've had the same problem before. Run heavier oil. add a bottle or two of 20 w 50 . it worked for me.

Thanks mtu, I'll give it a shot, probably next oil change. When I changed the filter to a motorcraft, I lost about a half qt of oil. I topped it off with Lucasoil, but 1/2 gt to 6 qts did'nt really do anything. At least the noise goes away relatively quickly, but we'll see what winter brings. Peace, Dave.

Hello all, Update to the chatter. I lost my transmission a couple few weeks back, had it rebuilt, took me a while, but I realized I don't hear the chatter anymore. I wonder if I was hearing something in the trans getting ready to give way? Oh well, thanks for the posts, Peace, Dave.
