Angry 95 5.0 engine swap

I need some help. I am trying to swap a 88 stang 5.0 ,into my 95 f150. The flex plate and auto overdrive flywheel bolt up perfectly only difference in the cranks I found that their is a 1/4 difference in where the pilot bearing goes. I machined it out and torque converter mates up fine. The problem is the bell housing and engine will not bolt up. If I start to tighten the bolts it will lock up the motor. Any help would be great. Thanks fastback1967@hotmail.com

make sure you torque converter in is the tranny right. I changed motor in my fatherinlaws ranger and took the converter out and thought it was in. Bolts wouldnt tighten up and motor didnt spin over.

There was somethign on Trucks! on spike, IIRC, about this. Stacy(sp?) said that if the TC isn't sitting all the way deep in the trans, then when you bolt everythign up, it will have this exact problem. I would check the TC, and make sure it's all the way in.

yea, if you dont have the right torque convertor, it causes it to not engage also. so its either you or the tc

Unhappy 95 Engine Swap

I am reusing the stock truck torque converter. The only glimmer of hope I have had is that the converter may have popped out its groves. I never checked it because I unbolted it, and let it in place. Hopefully I can get her back together. Any help is great. Rich

Thumbs up You were right

It was the TC, it must have slid off the splines. The 88 GT engine is running great. I averaged 17 miles per gal on a 420 mile trip with it. Thanks for the help. Rich
