Repair manuals??
Repair manuals??
I was looking through a JC Whitney catalog for repair manuals and they have one called "Ford F Series Pickup, Owner's Bible ". "The most complete & comprehensive manual."
They have them priced about $10.00 more than a Chilton. What do ya think, does anyone know if these "Owner's Bibles" are any good as a repair manual?

Look for the Ford factory manual on CD ROM on eBay. Hardcopy manuals are around $80 just for the factory shop manual. You can usually pick up the CD with the shop manual, EVTM and PCED all on it for around $20
Thanks Strange,
After looking at Ebay, I realized I should have mentioned I have a late model F150 (1985). Ebay had CDs for Ford 2001.
Anyother advise for the 1985 F150 model manuals?

I'd stick with the Chilton's if your looking for a detailed repair manual for your specific year truck. The Owner's Bible is a great read, but won't have the specifics you may be looking for. Just my $.02

Okay, thanks Sleeve
I wasn't sure about the Owner's Bible. The title sounded like it might have specific info., but from your advice it sounds like it might be too general?
Is the Owner's Bible geared more for custom stuff?

I was very disappointed with the Owner's Bible. I expected a wealth of stats and specs, and instead got a very general history lesson on the the evolution of the F-series, without any specs at all. It may mention some production numbers, but it doesn't even give you a plug gap when it comes to the specs you need for any kind of maint. work.
I personally can't stand the repair cd's. I think I'm just old school, and need to have the pages to flip through. You can still find factory service manuals for an '85 that are reasonably priced on eBay. They really are the best way to go. My second choice would be Chilton's #26662 or #8576 (same book, different numbers) for '76-'86 trucks.

You need factory service manuals, all of them - body, electric, engine.
Chilton's and Haynes are IMO useless and much aggravation. I don't know about that book you are asking.
Ebay is the place. Might take you days to find it, or months.
