L6 performance parts

Hey I just got a 91 ford f-150 custom with a straight six. I was woundering if there were any performance parts for that engine. Like headers, exhaust systems, cams, chips, intakes, heads, and any other power gainers. If you can give me a link to the parts it would greatly be appreciated. Is it stock to have a dual port throttle body and dual headers coming of the the engine or is that upgraded. But any help will help me get more power out of my straight six. thanks for the help.I was thinking about running dual exhaust off the dual headers would that work good. On the exhaust I want it kinda loud but I don't want to lose low end torque. I have a single exhaust with a 24" glasspack which sounds good but it doesn't have the deep tone I am looking for.

Hey there, congrats on the new truck.
Your intake/exhaust form the description sound stock.

http://www.cliffordperformance.com make's headers and a few other goodies for the 4.9L, you can make your own FIPK or buy one from K&N FIPK like I did(take a look in my gallery).

I've heard mixed things about the clifford headers though..some say they were a total waste of $300, then some again love them.

Also a Throttle Body spacer help's a lot on the 4.9L but someone is going to most likely be around a say that's not true ..... Poweraid make's one I beleive is 1 1/2 inches wide.
As for chips I've heard good results on the 4.9L by Jet chip and Superchip.
http://www.truckperformance.com has a lot of goodies too.

I have a friend that has a 90 f150 with the inline 6. He has headers & intake from clifford, it will really woke-up that 6 hole quite a bit. He later added the throrrle body spacer and it does help the I6. He's saving the money right to do a bore and stroke, wants to try and put out like 350/400hp, Hope he does. Hope this helps.

thanks guys. One question how do you know if your truck has a o2 fitting because they have to different header sets for my truck. I like there 320 camshaft they have I may have to buy one of those and some headers.Would that be good or bad. which one is the intake for my truck I didn't see one for fuel injected 300's.

There's very little that Clifford sells that you can't get from other sources. Cliffords prices are 50-75% higher in most cases and their delivery takes MONTHS. Shop around. Most companies make stuff for the 300, it's just not advertised by the big outlets like Jegs or Summit.

Is the K+n FIPK worth $200. I found a 320 camshaft , jet computer chip, throttle body spacer, a custom exhaust system, but there are a few other mods I would like to find Like an intake, a stroker kit if there is one for this motor, and anything else that will get me some extra horsepower.I really don't care about headers anymore. What are the torque and horsepower specs of the l6 engine anyways.

Hey SPROCKET_X where did you get the k-n kit at and what did you pay. The reason is is that it looks different then the ones I have seen. Cause yours only has a single tube going into the air filter the ones I have seen have two going in to it. What size air filter is that. The reason I am asking so many questions is because I am 16 and I went from a nissan 300zx turbo to a ford f-150 with a straight six in it and I am power graved.

My intake looks different because my truck is equiped with Mass-Air...it started in some 95's 4.9L's and went in all in 96'...a 91' would have "Speed Density" the 2 big tubes.

Take a look in PKRWUD's gallery, he made his FIPK and saved a bundle.

As for that Venom thing I have no idea....but Venom does make a NOS kit for the 4.9L for about $600 that I'm very interested in even though I realy should get it because knowing my self I'll break something BIG!

With true duals, I wouldn't go over 2.25". Maybe even 2".

As for the Venom 400 unit, I have a mag that showed some very good results from the unit on a Suburban. They did load down testing on a dyno and power was well up.

They also did a passing test (40-60 IIRC) and the time was cut almost in half. The unit is only supposed to work under heavy load conditions before open loop from my understanding. I suspect that the passing time change was partly from reducing downshift delays since the truck would have gone into open loop upon WOT condition.

I think those units usually go for about $400, so the price is great.
