First Annual Rock Jam Nationals

My local off-road club hosted the First Annual Rock Jam Off Road Nationals race in DuQuion, Illinois on Memorial Day weekend. Here are some pictures of both the pros and the local guys.

Saturday
Racers just completed a two lap pre-run. Levi hit our big downhill jump a little hot and busted a link mount. Shawn Fisher also had some minor damage but he says that he will have it fixed no problem. Brian shirley lost a front ring and pinion. Much carnage for practice laps!

Lots of great racing in the first two heats! Here are the total times for heats 1 and 2.

Derek West 11:45:35

Ben Evans 24 (time out)

Brian Shirley 12:24:73

Shawn Fisher 13:21:23

Thomas Grady 13:57:19

Levi Shirley OUT - broke during pre run

Ben Evans had his 383 screaming but couldn't quite keep up with Derek West off the line.

Derek West and Shawn Fisher will face off in the final followed by Brian Shirley and Thomas Grady. Each pair will run two three lap heats, lowest total time for both heats takes home the cash!

Derek West wins! Brian Shirley 2nd, Shawn Fisher 3rd, Thomas Grady 4th. These guys put on an amazing show for the finals. Times were tight so there was lots of throttle, big air, and high speed attacks on the rock gardens.

Big thanks to all of the drivers for taking a chance on this first year race. Please let us know what you thought and what we can do different next year. We were very pleased with the race and the feedback from everyone here in Du Quoin has been excellent. THANK YOU!

Yeah, after we towed him back to the top of the hill I asked him why he hit that so hard. He responded he was told he could hit it as fast as he felt comfortable. These guys jump these things for a living so he felt pretty dang comportable.

well im not sure exactly, the had a huge hill climb then cross a blacktop road and that jump. He hit that with the engine bouncing off the rev box. Running a supercharged v8 engine in it, so pretty dang fast.
